The Compo n Clegg double act in No10 are just another example of the know everything, never done anything career politians we're seeing these days. Cameron, Clegg and Miliband are just like Trust-Me-Tone before them, the same-suit, same background, never had a proper job, dimwits that think they know best.... the only differnce is the colour of the rosette on their lapel.
I'll post it again as a few people ignored it.

"Jane’s Defence Weekly, the respected military magazine, said the offer was submitted by air force chiefs to the Strategic Defence and Security Review being conducted by the Coalition Government.
Although scrapping the new Nimrod would save only £200 million immediately, it claimed that £3 billion would be cut in the longer term, partly through savings at RAF Kinloss in Moray, where the planes are to be based."

That could have been a ploy to get the Royal Navy to also call for the retention of the Nimrod.
The Chief of Air Staff was apparently fighting the case last Saturday for keeping the Nimrod, which is a little more recent than the Telegraph article which is 3 months old now.
The Nimrod operating based could have been moved to Waddington and Kinloss still closed.

Don't believe what the papers say.The offer wasn't just Nimrod.... CAS were forced to put on the table a selection of 'offers' for the 'chop'.....
Cameron, against advice, chose the MRA4.....

At the time this was immediately seen as an effort to get the RN onside with the MRA4 due to it's primary role as one leg of the triad protecting our bombers. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/in...

Now there's a hint(I will not reduce Britain's deterrent-D Cameron) if ever there was one....
Petition now online to save the MRA4.
Worth a try signing up I suppose. We owe it to the crews that have flown and protected us and our interests overseas in these aircraft for the last 40 years.
We've paid for the aircraft as well!!

Such a shame that someone didn't proof read the text first. A petition like that needs a calm rationale detailing the risks of not having the aircraft operational for it to be taken on board by government. Ideally it should have been written by one of the designers or crew.Still, worth a try though.
