Wasn’t it just to get better visibility taxing and landing due to the angle of attack on approach they had to droop the snoot. Once airborne I doubt it matters.
The visor is raised/lowered independantly of the nose

Apparently it’s fake.
Yup - the visor is usually only raised for supersonic flight, which would not happen over a city
It's also flying the wrong way down the Thames if it's on approach to LHR, they never took off that way and it would have caused carnage to ATC if it was real. Also suspect some of those buildings in the background weren't up before it retired.
Broadgate Tower (upper righthand edge of the image) began construction in 2005, two years after Concorde's last flight. The state of construction in Canary Wharf looks around 2008/9 when compared to Google Earth imagery.

557 & 558 over Fylingdales - mid/late 60's

Note camouflage is obviously the same design but has been hand finished and is not identical.

Concorde had a number of different nose angle/visor combinations depending on

take off
subsonic cruise
supersonic cruise
landing

There’s an interesting and very British armed forces story about how that camouflage pattern was designed.

Also 557 has the shorter exhausts characteristic of a Vulcan with Olympus 301s.

Given that they painted the canopy on the underside, did they ever consider painting the wheels and underwing stores on the top side?

While I'm not claiming the above pic is real, it is perfectly possible to take a decent photo through an aircraft canopy. This one for example was taken at Mach 1.6...they had to go that slowly so the Tornado could keep up for long enough to take a decent photo biggrin

Trickier to get an above shot I'll grant you but doable, there was a documentary in the '80's about the F-14 crew that took a photo of the cockpit of a Mig-28, although sadly the photographer was killed in a training incident shortly after.

Nope - it's not flying in the aerodynamic sense. It's ballistic rocket.

Well covered over in the science section if you want to have a look.

yes

Agreed. Very very cool but not an aircraft. Could have posted this one from that link though!

I've only just noticed something: what's with the double-bubble canopy? Not all had that, I'm sure.

Still my favourite aircraft; just sublime! cloud9

Particularly appropriate given the SR-71's nickname.
