Dubrovnik is a walk across to the aircraft. I also walked to the 'plane at Schiphol last time I passed through as there was too much snow on the ground to get close to the terminal.

Currently touring Australia. Having done a lot of business travel over the last few years, arriving in Ayres Rock it was a revelation to have to wait for "steps" and to be allowed to walk across the apron without a hi-vis and it reminded me of childhood holidays in the 70s.

So, lets reminisce - post your recent or past shots of an airliner on the tarmac at a holiday destination with you being allowed to walk across the tarmac to the terminal....

I've not flown that many times in my life so I can remember them all and I think air bridges were in the minority of my experiences...

2002 - Manchester to Naples: Air bridge at MAN, stairs and then bus at NAP.
Same in reverse coming back.

2010 - London Heathrow to Boston: Air bridge at both ends.
Return flight was from JFK, also with air bridge at both ends.

2010 - Leeds/Bradford to Barcelona: Walk and stairs at LBA then air bridge at BCN
Air bridge at BCN coming back with stairs and bus at LBA.

2011 - Leeds/Bradford to Dusseldorf: Walk and stairs at LBA then stairs and bus at DUS.
Bus and stairs at DUS coming back with stairs and bus at LBA.

2011 - Leeds/Bradford to Paphos: Walk and stairs at LBA then stairs and bus at PFO.
Bus and stairs at PFO coming back with stairs and bus at LBA.

2011 - Leeds/Bradford to Belfast: Walk and stairs at LBA then stairs and walk at BFS.
Walk and stairs at BFS coming back with stairs and bus at LBA.

2012 - Leeds/Bradford to Amsterdam: Walk and stairs at LBA then stairs and walk at AMS.
Walk and stairs at AMS coming back with stairs and bus at LBA.

Everytime I fly up to orkney to see the grandparents from Edinburgh the plane is always parked at stand 25+ so its a case of walk to the end of the terminal, out the door, down the steps, half a mile along the walk way ,up the rickety old steps into the plane.

At the other end its much the same except there is no walk way just bare tarmac between you and the terminal. If its raining the staff virtually encourage you to run to/from the plane.

I love the shock at having to walk on tarmac. I can barely remember the last time I used a walkway

This is an international airport.

What you see is the sum total of the airport buildings, the runway is the tarmac you see through the bushes. Lizard Island - beautiful place, I must go back.

Same here although the new Alicante airport seems to have walkways now, at least they did for EasyJet in February, can't comment for Ryanair who I usually fly with rolleyes

UK bound flights at Zurich remote stands.

When Mrs Puggit and I flew JNB-FRA-LHR in First and Business, we were driven over the tarmac to our waiting plane at FRA in a Porsche Panamera, waited for the hoi polloi to board from the bus in the pouring rain before our driver shuttled us up to our seats under a golfing unmbrella, and finally returning with our hand luggage which he placed overhead for us.

How the other half live hehe

All paid for on points!

Peru flight

This was 2001 flying from Iquitos in Peru to Lima. The three of us got tickets one way on this old heap for $40, bizarrely it stopped off en-route to pick up a couple of blokes and a motorbike at god only knows where airport. I've only just looked up exactly how old it was - built 1969!

That's me the lanky one on the right smile

They call it Lizard Island international. It connects directly with flights to Singapore at Cairns. When we went you are a transit passenger at Cairns
