1985 was the same weekend as Live Aid. I don't remember any rain that day.

The mural on the hangar was a KC-135 - in line with the theme.

Someone's given me their Saturday ticket including the shuttle bus from Swindon as they can't make it.

Question is, is the display this year worth me making the 3 hour train journey there and back (driving isn't much less time plus I can't use the RIAT car parks with the ticket with shuttle bus)?

I think it depends on if you've been before and how long ago that was. If you've never been before I think it would be worth the trip, Thunderbirds and Flankers will be a good treat. If you've been before then maybe not, I won't be going as it's just too much time and money for what's there IMHO. I know all nations are having cut backs but I was hoping for a bigger USAF turn out with the anniversary frown I remember when they brought more for a normal show and I'm only 25 so it wasn't that long ago!

Indeed......the '85 RIAT (the first one at Fairford) was indeed blisteringly hot and with no rain - have still got the scars from the blisters from the sunburn that day paperbag

I last went in 2010 having been several times before in the '80s and '90s.

Thinking about giving it a miss as I wasn't planning on going until I was given the ticket on Wednesday evening. The best part of £75 for a 3 hour train journey (including one side of London to the other) with a 40 minute shuttle bus journey and the same on the way back is putting me off. Pity that the ticket with the shuttle bus option states that you can't use any of the car parks else I would have driven down.

Could always drive to Swindon I suppose...

Smoothest entry we've ever had. Arrived in the car park (straight in) at 6:30, checks/scans etc were super efficient, even more so than usual. From opening to sat at crowd line was 5 minutes tops.

Usually feel a bit stuck out beyond the main stuff in the Green Area, particularly for static. So very happy to have the B1 and U2 (and most of the USAF stuff) down this end this year. The Ukrainian kit is down here too.

Wasn't expecting much after all the negativity surrounding yesterday but this has been my favourite for years. The US have thrown everything and the kitchen sink at it.
