Dreadful news.

Brings you up with a jolt that 80 years ago this wouldn't have made the news.

Yes, it is MK356. There are five fighter pilots on BBMF, including the OC and the OC designate.

Was it a replica? Looks like it was built in 1944.

Saw it at Goodwood once. frown

EDIT: I'm asking because the BBC initially reported it as being a replica in the link on the other thread.

A friend of min flies F35s out of Conningsby and is devastated. I gather it has hit the whole squadron really badly. The pilot is described as "the perfect gentleman" and "one of the RAFs good guys". So very sad.
RIP.

Your friend does not fly F35’s out of Coningsby.

Of course a death will hit a squadron hard, you’re a family and as a squadron leader would have likely been a Typhoon flight commander so had line management responsibilities to the younger pilots. A very experienced guy. Who was also due to take over next year as OC BBMF again a senior role on the flight.

He won't fly both....

Either he fly's the Typhoon (from Coningsby or Lossiemouth) or the F-35 (from Marham)
