Well no. They are usually there to help and will rotate.

However if someone is coming from another Squadron. They will spend most of the day car parking.

Not a new thing; I seem to remember spending a fair amount of time as an unpaid ATC car park attendant back in the 80s as well! Anyway, it was small potatoes compared to the payback of free aerobatics, powered flying, gliding, shooting .303s, SLRs & SA80s, warship & sub visits (hang, on, that sounds more like the fish-heads), summer camps to Germany, Cyprus & Gib etc.

Not to mention the previously mentioned perk that as a cadet NCO in your late teens you'd be fending-off women (well, 17 year-olds...) with a stty stick at every camp or course you went on.
