How or whats going on there?

Got dropped accidentally (obvious) from being lifted in!
Ok bit of a stupid question here....

Would a drop like that critically damage a boat if it didnt hit the bottom of the channel it was being lifted into?

I dont know anything about boats.....
No such thing as a stupid question, just an ignorant answer

Yes you would consider that a right of for sure, the water ingres through out the boat would be ridiculous and you would never get it all out plus is will screw the electrics and probably knock the shafts out of alignment etc the list would go on for days of what would require checking and probably changing,

Mike
Ah yes...thanks.

Just seeing the link also. Explains it!

Phocea, it was Bernard Tapies boat that was set up to cross the Atlantic single handed, then converted to a full super yacht, it is owned by the ex wife of the owner of Lady Moura

True, hate being on dock, not that keen on the Med neither epsecailly because its so that orientated, and to many people over pleased with themselves and crews to. Not all but....
Much more a Carib man mon, drop the pick quiet anchorage swim, drink and eat on board with a proper sky than street lighting.
Drink in local bars with locals not places where they charge $15 for a coffee and all you can here is who's got the thickest dock warps.....
Sea is much warmer to.......
I spent ages in the yard under castle in pic trying to strip and rebuild a famous 73 ft Maxi called "Mistress Quickly" I was going to be running, we got a good way through but the owner was running out of cash so we jumped.
Real shame that was quite a special boat, anybody know what happened to her ?

She is in Maxi book , Ben Lexan design ,was winning 79' Fastnet until she lost her rudder, then "Tenacious" cleaned up or known now as "War Baby". These where superyachts back then in the mid 70's.

The cars are probably randoms a think knowing the parking there... Talking of cars I am told Sunseeker had a Caterham in the dink garage at the show.

Mmmm shame its not my super big squrt boat or the first thing I would do I flog it .......

Our local harbour master here in Pwllheli used to work on her a good number of years ago. Offer me a job to but I was happy where I was at the time.

Recently I’ve taken a big interested in super yachts, the ultimate status symbol for the mega rich, and most celebrities can afford to own one.

Just a few questions if anyone know,

How much does it cost to run one of these, i.e. to top up with diesel , and how much is parking etc..
How does insurance work, because your the owner and not the driver (captain)
Back to the original question (I have come to this a bit late)...

The Super Yachts apparently cost about 10 to 15% of their value every year to maintain. It is hard to put a value on these things however.
It depends on if the boat is a Charter boat or private - Charter boats have to be 100% all the time or the guests will not be happy, this costs lots of money.
A real Super Yacht will be over 3000 Kw in propulsion power (I'm sure some will not agree), this means that it will (usually) be regulated by a Classification Society such as Lloyds of London. Insurance will be through a number of companies for different aspects but the boat will have to stick to the classification rules if the insurance is to be valid.
The Officers will have to be Certified also.

As for Fuel, take for example, Rotterdam where the current price for Marine Gas Oil is $584 MT.
Depending on the size of the boats bunker tanks, this can be up to 1000 M3
Take 800 MT at $584 = $467200
That is not including pumping, docking etc

I once took normal diesel from about 28 road tankers, it took two days and the cost was over half a million dollars.

That bottom one is horrendous when you see it up close, "A"is a cool looking boat and fair play to the owner for daring to break the mold and be different

I don't know much about this one yet but it looks interesting. Possibly going to be a "Shadow Boat" for Eclipse...?

I'm a big fan of the industrial looking boats, I would have loads of Toys and Tenders

Amazing to think that Eclipse is about the same size as a WWI Dreadnought Battleship and being a Russian Oligarch's boat it's probably considerably better armed wink

I dont for one minute think it has any form of armament on it, they would like you to believe it does but other than a few safe rooms that can be sealed all this missile detection systems etc l think from experience is a load of hype

Although l am always happy to be proved wrong

Yeah, I seriously doubt it has a Goalkeeper CIWS that pops out of the roof but if it does that would be *cool*. Could an individual with enough money even buy such a thing?

ETA: Wikipedia says the unit cost is €16 million.
