FAO Farnborough Spotters
Discussion
Ahoy fellow Locals.
Does anyone have any view on 'unofficial' viewing spots for this weekend?
As I understand it the Army have fenced off their land at the canal end of the runway to close off that popular viewing area, plus access to the canal towpath is being restricted.
I have previously wandered across to the industrial estate around Government Road/BAe campus where there didn't seem to be any restriction on pedestrians or cyclists. You are just a few yards from the paying punters so should be considered 'safe' by the authorities.

Cody Park is a decent viewing point. Free but gets busy so go prepared. I tend to aim for a view from the high point on Tweseldown (not the race course, the other side of the road), Ceasars Camp I think it is on the map.Does anyone have any view on 'unofficial' viewing spots for this weekend?

In the new post-Shoreham era, I think many (if not all) of the traditional outside viewing points with be 'out-of-bounds' this year, due to CAA regs.aeropilot said:

My back garden is pretty good To be honest, anywhere in and around Farnborough town centre will allow you a view of the flying display. You can probably still stand new The Swan Pub on the Farnborough Road or, failing that, stand outside the old town hall on Alexandra Road.
I used to stand near Southwood Golf Club (which is closing soon).

I thought of that the moment I posted my earlier question. Have watched from their car park in previous years as it was just down the road from our office (at the time). To save me swinging past there and having a look has anyone seen if they have erected the outdoor bar in the car park again? (Their website only mentions reserving a table (£60!))Some from inside yesterday:

Tweseldown Racecourse Tower has been popular recently, Plenty parking and I think they have charged £10. Still a fair distance from the runway though.
Caesars Camp will give an excellent view, albeit from quite a distance - highest point in the area so should give a good "overall" view.

Where will I be?? If I didn't have access to the Qinetic site (Cody Technology), I would probably cycle through to Eelmoor Flash again.
With a family, I would possibly take some chairs and a coolbox and try Tweseldown Tower. Could be busy though.
