Had to plod across the tarmac on a Glasgow to Dubai flight last year - ironically, there was an airbridge when we disembarked at our final destination - "Kabul International".

See, all those tax dollars are not wasted after all smile

Virgin 747 on the floor in St Lucia always sticks in my mind! It looked nearly as big as the island! The shed for the luggage was cool though LOL

Doha (until the new one) has no bridges.

It'll get more common as short haul tries to shave another 5 minutes from somewhere from ground times. Lots of airlines are boarding on the bridge in the front, and steps at the back.

Generally the steps are on for the cleaners.

I'm not a big fan of it, passengers seem to be magnetically drawn towards the engine.

yes The prop services are just so civilised. No security screening or anything, just wander out onto the tarmac and get on the plane.

Luanda airport in Angola also has no airbridges, though you normally get a bus to take you to your plane.
Planes are parked within 200m of the terminal doors but it takes ages to get there as the vehicle routings on the apron are not the best designed!!

Currently touring Australia. Having done a lot of business travel over the last few years, arriving in Ayres Rock it was a revelation to have to wait for "steps" and to be allowed to walk across the apron without a hi-vis and it reminded me of childhood holidays in the 70s.

So, lets reminisce - post your recent or past shots of an airliner on the tarmac at a holiday destination with you being allowed to walk across the tarmac to the terminal....
