Admittedly i spent 4 days in bars... but where was that!! i didnt see it when i was there in July!
The Czech Army Museum perhaps?
Yes. Quite interesting place, especially all of the cold war espionage gear like the gun in a video camera.
BTW, when you were in Prague, did you get asked if you wanted to see a midget shag a monkey? Maybe I misheard the man, but I'm pretty sure that's what he said.
blimey they do cater to minority interests abroad don't they

scary.....

think I'll stick to Aberystwyth, sounds safer even if they dont have a tank museum
Yep, That's definitely what he said - I checked with some others who were there. He also mentioned a suitcase apparently.
Was it an excessively tall coloured chap?? i didnt hear the monkey bit. Was outside a strip bar cant think of the name now. was just an offer of shagging a midget. turned round to tell him to eff off, to see the tallest man in the world. so politely said no thanks!

Nope, it was a small middle aged man I think.

Blimey..slightly OT but it sounds like there's a lot of work for sex midgets in Prague.

Sorry about the OT content, but Prague was...an experience. Having done some fairly elementary research just now I found this:

This is undoubtedly the person in question.

Sherman Tank, Saipan. Recently.

(And since it's a Tank thread)

Kelly - Any other secret weapons?

Oddball - Oh, yeah. All the tanks we come up against are bigger and better than ours. So that all we can hope to do is like scare them away. This gun is an ordinary 75 millimetre......but we added a piece of pipe onto it and the Krauts think......maybe it's a 88 millimetre. We got our own ammunition. It's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes pretty pictures. It scares the hell out of people. We got a loudspeaker. When we go into battle, we play music very loud. It kind of......calms us down.

Not a picture but a cool video clip. The first engine start on the late Jacques Littlefield's 5 year restoration project of a German WWII Panther tank.

The Chally 2
My uncle knows a guy who tested the Challenger 2. It was unique because the barrel was smooth if I can remember. The guy built a model of his tank and took it exhibitions where tank experts would come and say "You do know that Challengers didn't have smooth barrels?" When the guy would say "My tank did". my uncle also has a ringtone of a Chally starting up taken from behind the tank. He also has a picture of him at Bovingtonl. There, boast over! biggrin

confused Challenger 2 has a 120mm rifled main weapon, the M1 has a 120mm smoothbore, IIRC?

My uncle knows a guy whose dog used to st on the front garden of the ex-wife of a fella who cleaned the toilets in the factory where they make the guns.....

Or something.

That doesn't mean a specific Challenger 2 couldn't have been fitted with a smooth bore gun at some point does it?

when Clarkson drove the range Rover against the Challenger he showed us the rifled barrel. You know what they say...

You can question many things in life: the internet, tax returns, death...

... BUT NOT TOP GEAR

It was just his tank that had the smooth barrel. I can't remember. I'll ask my uncle next time I see him.
