I agree with you there, that's a separate list.
Yes, but you can't tell me that Eric wouldn't be suffering with one those involuntary discharge thingies similar to what happens when he views his VBH collection if he found out the lightning was to display over here.
I'll have you know my self control is legendary.

I can imagine you having to keep yourself in hand when another airplane thread comes along. wink

I only lose control when people use the word "airplane" instead of "aeroplane".

Excuse me whilst I sort myself out.....

Some manufacturers entire output has vanished. Are there any Armstrong Whitworth aircraft from World War 2 for example?

Don't think so, no Whitleys, no Albermales, no Ensigns (beautiful airliner check it out below).

The F-111 is not extinct - yet. The Aussies are still flying them - although not for much longer.

In fact, according to Wiki, TODAY is the last day of operational flying for the F-111 in Oz.
Did you miss my wink?

hehe

Probably.

I wasn't having a go - but just highlighting for those interested how close to extinction the F-111 actually was. You were only out by a few hours.

In the excellent Coventry airpoty museum (where you can climb into most of thd cockpits of the aircraft ona good sunday, inclduing a Vulcan) they have a display with the only remains of the Whitley bomber.

This example crash landed. There is a piece of the rear fuselarge with the turret, as bit of wing and I thats about it...

I would also nominate the Bristol Brabazon. I think the only remaining piece is one of the undercarriage wheels in the Science museum in London

I remember reading somewhere that the B-58 at the USAF museum is maintained to such a high standard that getting it flying would be a relativly straight forward job.

I am going to go with the not flying but still existing form of extinction here.

I would LOVE to see an SR71 Blackbird flying, was born to late to see them at Fairford frown

Would also love to see the EE Lighting.

And a Javelin, all the cold war jets basically.

Never seen a bucanneer in the flesh either.

As soon as I saw the DH-91 I thought it looked like a slightly melted Constellation. Wonder who copied who?
