The Vulcan people put out a release in December about running a Harrier: pretty tricky, it seems. http://www.vulcantothesky.org/news/151/82/Could-a-... Hope we are all contributing to keep the last flying Vulcan in the air. Only two more years of airframe time left before the last big bird has to retire.

I think all us members should bundle up, (i dont know how many members we have) put a few quid in each.

Then we can paint it black, cover it in PH smileys and just stand around it in awe.
i got 200 crisp queens heads here to chip in!

Why don't we all stick a fiver in? We can easily buy it for the PH car park...

I thought the Vulcan, although running low on Airframe hours, was more limited now to engine cycles. Once they are used up it is game over frown

I think they have been working on extending the airframe life during the winter service. Oh and on the engines note. They have 8 engines in total and RR have them out every 20 hours to ensure that they are in perfect nick. I wonder if RR would source new engines if they used them all up. Or would they get them from another operable Vulcan.

For Vulcan fans a short clip of one in flight I took at Goodwood Revival 2009:

I remember the days when Harriers were half the size. These Euro safety regulations have really ruined flying for me. :|

I can see what looks like the fuselage of a Hunter, but no Lightning.
