Interesting to spot the different wing tip missile fit between the RN/RAF F-35B and the USMC F-35B.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7NK6PRK6Rg
UK fitted with ASRAAM and the US fitted with AIM-9X.
This was also a bit of a milestone event for the USMC as it was the first combat mission flown by US aircraft from a foreign carrier since US aircraft operated off HMS Victorious in the South Pacific in 1943.
I love that the USMC have that massive flag painted inside the fan door

Not really thought about it before, but does that also imply they have completely separate ground crews, as they won't be qualified on each others munitions?UK fitted with ASRAAM and the US fitted with AIM-9X.

Saw it in the background off Cornwall when Bojo was entertaining the G7 crowd on the beach.
Most recognisable ship in the world , surely that’s not good for a warship?
Not that recognisable - it wasn’t her. It was HMS prince of Wales. Most recognisable ship in the world , surely that’s not good for a warship?
TBF given the scarcity of large carriers and that they and their support battle groups aren't exactly a stealth asset likely to pop up where you least expected it, does it matter?

You sure your not confusing HMS Victorious with USS Robin? For those that don’t know USS Robin was the name Victorious was given when she operated with the Yanks.

Not sure it's the most recognisable, I doubt many people in other countries could pick her out of a line up.Most recognisable ship in the world , surely that’s not good for a warship?
Now this, is recognisable:

Now if only they could figure out what to do with them... I think the latest plan is to fit them with hypersonic missiles as a long range anti-surface destroyer.

Yes with some caveats. As with UK squadrons there will be maintenance/weapons teams who are attached to the squadron (and move with them) rather than the ship.aeropilot said:

The safe storage and handling of weapons is the responsibility of specific Officers and NCO crew on the ship. That wouldn't change if a foreign squadron was embarked.
