Amazingly cool and interesting plane footage

No. The Buran, if anything, would have been lighter as it did not have the large rocket motors fitted to the rear as the US Space Shuttle did.
Buran received all its orbital velocity from the thrust of the Energia launch vehicle and just used smaller thrust rocket motors to refine its orbit and to adjust its attitude once in orbit.
The US Shuttle had its own main engines which provided 1.5 million pounds of thrust at launch. These were pretty big and heavy items with associated plumbing and hydraulic systems.

A quick check with Wiki reveals that the empty weight of Buran was 93,000 lbs and the empty weight of the Shuttle Orbiter was around 150,000 lbs.
I know we can't always be sure that they are comparing exactly like with like but I think it does show how much extra weight the Shuttle Main Engines added to the spacecraft.

That's a great backing track as well
As much as I hate those crappy un-boxing videos of gifts on Youtube, this one is not too bad...

Actually.. Having reached the end of it. Question.
What looks to be a safety/anti tail-rotor strike bar (the red and white), it appears if it is an (anti-stike bar) to be smaller than the tail-rotor disk? Which leads me to believe its function is just a visual warning, rather than an anti-strike bar.
Which then leads me onto another question, why wouldn't you have it serve both purposes, having seen several videos of the disasterous results of a heli rocking back?

It has a tail skid for that problem.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-druCyVnH0

The red and white bit you're on about is to keep trees, cables ect away from the tail rotor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-druCyVnH0

This is a Brazilian Air Force Mach 1.1 flypast by two Mirages over their Supreme Court building, breaking all the windows.

Brings back some memories, Denmark 92, tracking these with Rapier kits thinking how easy they would be to shoot down. Probably not so easy if they were actually shooting at you though. The noise and inspecting the damage to the tanks on the range afterwards was pretty impressive.eccles said:

Edited to take that question back... - I guess a perspective thing of the video - only a tiny part of the disk wouldn't be covered by bar & skid.
