I made the mistake of going out on the lake yesterday, it was way too windy and choppy!
I was treated to a fly past by the RAF/USAF. Which was nice.

If you're heading out on a lake/loch/lough it's always worth knowing the wind direction both before and during your trip.I was treated to a fly past by the RAF/USAF. Which was nice.
For example, we've had a run of northerly winds in recent days, which is the opposite of what we typically see. When the wind blows consistently from the north for a number of days, the south of the lake will be pretty damn choppy, but the north of the lake not as much.
And vice versa when the wind flips back.
I'm on the north east of a large lough and our prevailing wind is south west (terrible combination) so I bought a drone to send out on scouting missions lol.
But if travelling to a lake, always worth knowing the wind so that you can target the area which is most likely to be calm. It could be white horses on the lake where I live and flat calm at the opposite end due to where the wind is/has been.
Still haven't managed to get mine out yet, just don't seem to get a free evening or day that isn't crazy windy!
Probably from Lakenheath.
