SR-71 Blackbird. I can tell by the landing gear and it's black and it's not a Defiant smile

Ps. It's the one on the USS Intrepid Museum.

Well done. Please post your name and address, and your PIN number, to receive your biscuit.

First time I had seen an A12 /SR71 in real life. As others have said, they are surprisingly small. Having said that, the Harrier GR1 and the IAI Kfir just along the deck from her looked positively toy-like. The F14 Tomcat still looked as big as ever though.

Right, I am off to read 'Sled Driver' again.

If any of you find yourselves in NYC I would thoroughly recommend a USS Intrepid visit.

The A-12s were produced a bit earlier than the SR-71s and operated by the CIA rather than the USAF. The main distinguishing feature of the A-12 is that they were single seaters.

If you read the article, I was the chap who is lucky to be alive...

This event was all building to its conclusion as I was leaving the control tower... I had been parked in front of the Impreza and less than 10 seconds from when I pulled away, the Hawk collided with the Impreza,,,

TOOOOOO BLOOOODY CLOSE!!

I sunk a few beers that night!!

I am not sure everyone has seen the blunder of the Patrouille de France this 14th of July (you might also want to see the videos of the motorcycle riders of the Garde Republicaine who collided)

Yup. Here's a question - apart from the extra seat, is the SR71 significantly different in dimensions, performance, etc?

The A-12 was a bit smaller and actually faster than the SR-71.

I know parking wardens are getting really strict, but calling airstrikes, seems over the top!

A very lucky man.

Yes, yes, I know I took the picture with a potato but I didn't have time to get my decent camera out. Nice to see a Harrier(AV8) flying again, love the engine roar as it winds up
