Oh yes, it's the A-12 on the Intrepid.
Well done. Please post your name and address, and your PIN number, to receive your biscuit. First time I had seen an A12 /SR71 in real life. As others have said, they are surprisingly small. Having said that, the Harrier GR1 and the IAI Kfir just along the deck from her looked positively toy-like. The F14 Tomcat still looked as big as ever though.
Right, I am off to read 'Sled Driver' again.
If any of you find yourselves in NYC I would thoroughly recommend a USS Intrepid visit.

This event was all building to its conclusion as I was leaving the control tower... I had been parked in front of the Impreza and less than 10 seconds from when I pulled away, the Hawk collided with the Impreza,,,
TOOOOOO BLOOOODY CLOSE!!
I sunk a few beers that night!!

The A-12s were produced a bit earlier than the SR-71s and operated by the CIA rather than the USAF. The main distinguishing feature of the A-12 is that they were single seaters.
Yup. Here's a question - apart from the extra seat, is the SR71 significantly different in dimensions, performance, etc?Ayahuasca said:
