Air National Guard Corsairs used to be annual visitors to Cottesmore in the early 1980s. The air would be permanently filled with their noise and that of the Starlifter support planes on arrival and departure days.

Indeed. Some people at NASA wanted Gene Cernan to pop out with some cutters to try and free the strap that was causing the shroud to stick. That idea was vetoed pretty quickly.
