Airliners on the tarmac with no air bridge
Discussion
I think this was 1986. I was on holiday with mates and we'd hooked up with a group of scottish girls. At the airport coming home we were all well hung over, they missed their flight call and almost missed the plane. It didn't seem so crazy at the time, but they were allowed to run accross the tarmac to get on before the steps got moved. Here's the pic.

Steps? Last time i flew Ryanair they just dropped a rope out the door.
A rope, you were lucky!!! I was just kicked out of the open door into the abyss!!Luxury
When we flew wt them we had to carry the plane up runway as fast as we could to save tyres then wore our feet down t knees when it landed.
Bizarrely all my experiences have been at massive airports, on large planes.
Bangkok, very frequently experience for the plane to be parked on the tarmac and then have to get buses either to it, or from it.
LAX last year on a flight from Dallas, we had to disembark and get on buses. Interesting experience as the terminal was a long way away and it is an extremely busy airport both in plane traffic and ground vehicles. Stopping at a x-roads to let 777's and 747's past etc
LHR I have also been bussed from the plane to the terminal
