When you're new and the union can't help you too much, you tend to do as you're told hehe

understood .

but a smartphone and that site means your rule book is always up to date !

thumbup

my company ( DBs ) is looking at getting shot of all our books , including weekly/periodical notices , in favour of a tablet/lap-top or similar .

I'm going to put the rule book on my phone, however we have mentioned that, as have senior managers!

Just on my way to work. I can't believe I get to call this work, simply amazing!

I had a bit of a rubbish evening and feel a bit disspondent. Ah well, going to view a car tomorrow!

Lads whatever you do, DO NOT say "Red means go, yeah?" at the end of your signals module.

I can tell you now, it does not go down well hehe

Nice one! Another tip, it's yellow not amber. I got my butt kicked for saying that when training!

I took my train drivers assessment on Wednesday and just found out I passed. Got a final interview and a medical on Wednesday then hopefully I'll be a trainee train depot driver.

Congratulations Rob! Best of luck with the interview. I don't know if it's the same with the company you've applied for, but if you fail your interview will they just invite you back in a few months when there's another opening?

I don't envy you being a DD, to me it's a being sacry - albeit slow - place hehe

Probably a stupid question but after having my brain fried on Wednesday and the news I've had today I'm not really thinking straight at the mo. what's a DD. I've been told that I now have 2 years to find a job in the industry before my assessment runs out. Fingers crossed for Wednesday.

hehe

It was only a few days ago that myself and the other trainees (one of which who was on the assessment with me) said that it was neither hard or easy, but we really wouldn't want to do it again!

I said when I was about 4 or 5 I wanted to drive trains. Hopefully after 30 years I'll get my childhood dream.

I'm just glad to get the chance. Nothing's guaranteed yet but I'm a lot closer than I was 4 days ago. I like the sound of being at the controls of a train but also being able to get my hands a bit dirty too.

I was exactly the same - just glad to get the chance. You're a lot lot closer, no one can take the assessment result away from you. Keep us updated on how you do in the coming weeks thumbup

Good luck and I hope all goes well, I work on electrostar 375s from time to time but only as a fitter,
If you don't get through don't blame yourself as most jobs on the railway tend go to friends or family members of management.
Fingers crossed for you.
