That picture is just speculation from someone on another forum. It didn't come from any manufacturer or other reliable source.
Apart from the tail. wink

My god if that things classed as "stealthy" then even our Typhoons must be virtually invisible.
Surely the main aim of stealth in a helicopter has to be noise suppression ?

Oh, I though the main aim was to spend billions of dollars without the taxpayer noticing...

That's one of the aims. You can do a lot to heat shield the turbine exhausts which reduces the IR signature, and while it's difficult to make it invisible to radar, it can always be reduced a bit.

The Crewman on that cab is going to be mighty embarassed...he has one job to do when they're landing and that is to talk the Captain down so he doesn't hit anything....

I bet he is wearing more than a Rotor Tip around his neck for a week*

Looks like it might be part of this machine!

Actually, come to think of it, this is probably closer to what the tail rotor belonged to than most of the published guesses.

I guess the stealth look is now back in fashion.

Diiging around for some models to build and noticed you can buy a model kit of it now.

Still not seen any photos of the real thing apart from the old crash photos.

The complete lack of any other evidence of the existence of a seperate type of helicopter suggests to me that it is a retrofit kit over a 'standard' spec ops UH60. Bolt on - Bolt off.

Why? B2 was glimpses and rumours for years. As was the SR-71, U2, F117a, etc. It's in their interest to keep it secret for as long as possible.

Basically they have crossed a Comanche and a Black Hawk. Hasn't anyone considered that maybe the RAH-66 Wasn't killed off.

I know it was just a T.V. documentary, but on the one all about the raid they just said they used two retro fitted Blackhawks at the compound. One of the Chinooks in reserve got the men from the downed Blackhawk out.

I wouldn't have thought they would switch a programme that was already out in the open to secret, but it would certainly make sense to use technology developed for Comanche in other programmes.

B2 was a 'grey' project. Everyone knew the general shape under the NTB program but the details were 'black'.

The operating locations (in CONUS) suited the SR-71, U-2 when they were still black projects - Groom Lake isn't exactly overlooked.

I have to say, they did a mighty fine job with the F-117's though!

To me, it makes more sense for this particular 'thing' to be a heavy mod for existing helicopters rather than a wholly new type - there are engineering compromises already evident in the released pictures to show that the engineers had to work with the existing platform.
