Took a while to ID this but am going with a Lockheed PV2 Harpoon. Any other thoughts?

The size of the swelling underneath the orange cowlings indicates the presence of large radials, so on balance I think you're correct

No. The PV2 Harpoon was a twin engine, that has clearly got 4 (well, you can see three of them).

It is a Boeing B17 Flying Fortress

Yes, they are radials but it's a B-17 so they are Wright R-1820 Cyclone engines.

I am sticking to PV2 Harpoon. I thought maybe B24 or B25 at first but they had nose wheels and this one clearly has a tail wheel.

Are you blind? It looks **nothing** like a PV2 Harpoon. Not even mentioning that it clearly has two more engines than the PV2 Harpoon.

This is a PV2 Harpoon

It *is* a B-17G (which also has a tail wheel).

Correct. Lockheed PV2 Harpoon, Build Number 37472, civil registration N7670C.

The one even further in the background (of the original picture) is a C-17 Globemaster, 05-5143. There is also a B-25 in that picture I added...

Yes - but we all know that she couldn't carry as large a load as Brit bombers.

She could handle a few more crew though.

It was a two person affair. Brit bombers did it solo.

Brits were traditional, the gunner was always on top

They did have a go with underside gunners but gave up as it wasn't good for performance.
