Suez blocked by stuck ship!
Discussion
This is so exciting! The boat has left Rotterdam and it's now on its way to Felixtowe!
Hang on, it says arrive on 8.8.20! Why does it take six days to get there?

It missed its slot at the dock by quite a bit. Probably the next available unloading time. It will have to sit under anchor outside felixstow until granted access to the port. Hang on, it says arrive on 8.8.20! Why does it take six days to get there?

'The shipping vessel had been held by the Suez Canal Authority, which demanded that a $916 million fine be paid for the obstruction (it was later lowered to $550 million). An undisclosed settlement was ultimately agreed upon between the ship's owners and the authority, according to CNN.'
so it was you who paid the fine.
so it was you who paid the fine.
Anyone else having to put a claim through their insurance for cargo to get released?
We've been told that as part of the damages paid out, that the loss is not just against the ship but also on the cargo owners on it. So effectively we have to pay a percentage of our cargo value to help fund the compensation paid out. If we dont pay the cargo will not be released and worse we could have more costs as we are only on LCL and other partiies in the container will have a claim against us.
All seems strange but our shipping agent says its all correct. Its now with our insurers but taking time to sort out.

Bet the pilots are all rapidly trying to book days off for when that due to go through Thought she looked a little empty at Felixstowe. Must have discharged all cargo ready for Drydocking.
Bit of a track back to Asia but i guess there are limited yards that would be able to accept her size. Also costs a far cheaper in Asia.
Latest update:-
Ever Given to be drydocked in Asia
THE containership which gained notoriety when it blocked the Suez Canal for nearly a week in March is to be drydocked after
unloading all its cargo in Europe. The 20,000 teu Ever Given (IMO:9811000) has been placed offhire by charterer Evergreen Marine,
and is now heading back to Asia where it will be thoroughly checked for any damage before eventually returning to service.
The extent of any repairs is unclear at this stage. Maurice Storey, honorary chairman of Evergreen Marine UK, told Lloyd’s List the vessel
was placed offhire by the Taiwanese group as soon as it had completed cargo operations in Felixstowe this week, and set sail on Thursday
morning.
