Well, deposit returned, and they're looking at buying a new boat from me so all good there.

On other news, my boat is SOLD! Money is just waiting to clear in my bank and then I have to organise delivery of it. Good news, but we're very sad to see it go. It's even worse when you've put so much time and money into building it yourself. frown

Bye Bye boat....have fun with your new owner. You'll be missed.

Spoke too soon. He's asked for his deposit back after the sea trial, despite there being no problems with it at all!
So keep the deposit and go to the other full price offer!

A deposit is there for a reason, he can't have it back because he's changed his mind. The deposit is the fee you earn for taking time, petrol and to stop showing potential buyers. Tell him to do one!
Yes he can, standard practice.

Wouldn't be much point in a sea trial if the purchaser had no chance to decide whether or not he liked it and was forced to buy or lose his (normally 10%) deposit.

Isn't that a dinghy? I thought boats had sun decks and upstairs driving platforms and bikini clad girls and built-in champagne coolers? laugh

I've got that engine on the back of mine Dan - I've been very pleased with it.

A dinghy with a retail price tag of nearly £40k! It's a really good boat actually and will be thoroughly missed. frown

I remember from a previous conversation! It's a good engine, loads of power. I get 45 knots from mine with 2 people and 100 litres of fuel onboard which is pretty good! let me know if you need any spares for it. smile
