Watched and movingly enjoyed every minute.

Why the hell has it taken so long for a memorial to come about?
Says a lot about this country now and how far it has gone backwards.
Bet there'll be a few hijackers and pc liberalisers getting their voices heard when it is unveiled in June.

These men (boys) freed you and you should never, ever, bloody forget it!

Because the politicians refused to sanction one - not even a campaign medal. And that goes right back to 1945 - so it is not a new problem.

1945 = Labour government... probably the same naive cretins who gave our jet engine to the Russians.

Great program, I have never really though about the poor rear gunner it looks like he had the worst job of the lot. Cramped little office and he is sat there for 9 hours. Amazing blokes the lot of them.

It wasn't just Labour who were at fault. Churchill wanted to distance himself from the bomber offensive too so there wasn't any great move by him or his party to do anything about the matter when they regained power in 1951.

This was the same electorate who, had they been asked before the raid whether it was OK to bomb Dresden, would not have hesitated to give a resounding 'yes'.

Since when did politicians REALLY ever follow the wishes of the masses (not saying they should either).

Leaving aside the moral rights and wrongs of what was carried out! Does anyone else think that it's about time that the guys who carried out these operations were awarded a campaign medal?? Surely we should be able to start some sort of movement to ensure that this oversight could now be put right before all the survivors shuffle off this mortal coil.
It would need, I think, a high profile character to be a focal point, how about someone like Max Hastings??
Could we start a No. 10 petition or am I getting excited over something that no one else is bothered about??
Best regards, Tony

There has been a campaign for many years with quite a few well known individuals supporting it. The reason why it isn't as high profile as it should be is because the media are not interested.

I wasn't very impressed with the way they wrote No 9 Squadron out of the attacks on the Tirpitz nor the way they ommited to mention the de-homing policy was in force before Harris took control of Bomber Command.

Very good show I thought, and nice to see the BBC spending a decent amount of money and giving an hour and a half over for such a subject.

A few small details simplified I feel ,rather than obvious errors. I did feel they should have mentioned some of the other aircraft and perhaps visited the Halifax at Elvington.
