I've not won the lottery yet.

£2500 for 30 mins is a bit steep for my bank balance currently. biggrin

Would love to do it though.

I cant get my head around 2.5k for 20-30 mins in one. much rather spend the cash getting time on Moths and other vintage stuff for a lot more hours

It might be cheaper to take a holiday in the US and get a flight in a Mustang.

I have flown in ML407. It was fantastic. I'm booked for another flight as a retirement present in a few years time.

I've flown from Goodwood. Sywell wasn't doing it when I booked or I would have gone there. Amazing experience. Yes a lot of money but if you can afford it the experience outweighs the cost if that's your thing.

That's the way to go if you wish to fly a Mustang.

OP's husband wishes to fly a Spitfire.

They do it here in Kent from Headcorn for around the same price - there must be plenty of wealthy people around though as the Spitfire is flying from Headcorn to Dover and back several times a day Saturday / Sunday for the past few weeks. To have the Dove go up with you so you can take pictures of the Spitfire (possibly with a loved one in the back seat) is an eye watering amount of money. (They were hawking the package deals when I visited an event at Headcorn a few weeks ago)

I think that's the one I saw over Brands Hatch a few weeks ago at Lotus Fest.
It was up all day.
That part of the world is quite affluent so hardly surprising really.

I bet he'd appreciate a Mustang too - I know I would.

The one you saw was probably out of Biggin Hill as I went over Brands on my experience from there. Doing a Victory roll over Brands was brilliant!

thanks for your all your comments, there was loads he was interested in, so had to get him to chose, its more to do with the passing of his dad, went to the battle of Britain at duxford the other weekend and to see the planes his dad was involved in was quite emotional, and the spitfire experience was something we were desperate for his dad to do, unfortunately he passed suddenly last august, so this is more for him and the husband. so duxford looks the dates he wanted to do, so weather permitting, "chocks away ginger", although this is all the xmas, birthday and anniversary presents sorted for many year to come!!

I bought this as a present for my father in law, but at Duxford. It's an amazing life experience, well worth the money. The one thing to be aware of is that it's very cramped in there- the quote being you don't so much get into a Spitfire as wear it.

It's a nice day out for the family too, there's loads of interesting stuff going on in an active airfield. I would favour Duxford over Sywell though, it's busier and there's more to see, even though the art deco stuff at Sywell is nice.

With the poor exchange rate to the dollar now, it would probably be cheaper to have the P-51 flight here in the UK, if a P-51 was your preference.

I'm waiting for AJD to finish their 2-seat Hurricane rebuild, for my bucket-list trip....just hope I'm still fit and healthy enough by then.

Same price as the Spitfire flights pretty much, in fact a hundred quid or so cheaper for the same flight profiles.
