I was out on a MTB ride in central Lakes yesterday afternoon - I've never seen such intense and prolonged activity in the skies, F35's I think?

It went on all afternoon, repeated passes by pairs of fighter jets. The weather was stunning so was this just a coincidence or do they pick the best weather to go out and have a play?

Yes, it can be weather dependent if they are new to the low fly zone.

If you search Twitter and YouTube for LFA17 you'll probably find some spotters video.

It was 3 or 4 x F15s I think as they were twin tails. I saw the F35s and Typhoon too. Made for an entertaining walk to Elterwater although a lot of their passes seemed to be in the other valley to where I was.

Had a strange overflight this evening near Ambleside just after it got dark. Think it was a helicopter as it was very low but still went quite quick. It wasn’t a chinook, sounded a bit like an Osprey but I didn’t think there were any over here.

All of the aircraft didn’t show up on Adsb which was disappointing as I was hoping to track them to get some pictures or video.

My place of work is under the low fly zone on the way to the Lakes, they follow the M6 before turning left and flying over us towards morecambe bay. Quite often see a couple of Ospreys flying towards the lakes. Had F15's fly over pretty low.

There's a large NATO exercise over the next 2 weeks based at Waddington so lots more stuff zipping about shortly I guess.

The Americans have Ospreys stationed at RAF Mildenhall in Norfolk. A shot I took in 2016.

Yep, always Osprey's about. One landed at Barton Aerodrome in Manchester last week for re-fuelling.
