At such low height its rarely a good idea to try to turn and make the runway after engine failure after take off. Either the report is inaccurate or he must have started his take off roll mid-field as at a height of 150ft in that plane on that runway (3650ft, ~500ft altitude) and with the run-off available I would have thought that putting it straight back down was a good possibility. As the saying goes, there is nothing more useless than runway behind you...
