We had a couple of goes on the cable car yesterday. it's a very nice facility, the staff are friendly and the price isn't too bad. The view from 300ft above the Thames is wonderful, as seen here.

It goes from near the O2 to near the Excel centre. Or u can get Tube/DLR between them much quicker.
NO WAY. The cable car is a 5 minute ride from the 02 car park to Docklands. Then a 5 minute walk from there to Excel.

The DLR goes all road Docklands for starters...

I'll race you for a tenner.

Jubilee line would get to Canning town before you'd even walked from the Tube to the cable car! DLR to Beckton/Prince Regent is every 3 mins at most, Excel is 2 stops along and at most a 50m walk.
Race is on- from the entrance to the 02 arena. I was going to say the loser gets the beers in, but will gladly take your hard earned instead...

Is this for the DLR as well?

spin

Edit to add. Where is the nearest DLR from the 02?

From the O2 to Excel wasn't the basis of my argument as the vast majority of users just wouldn't be making that trip. As you can read from my post, Im using the example of using the cable car as a means to get to Excel.

If you were heading to the Excel from central London (aside from the novelty factor) you wouldn't use it for speed, staying on the Jubilee Line to Canning Town then DLR will be much quicker (and drier on wet days!). By the time you'd have gotten out of North Greenwich station and walked to the cable car, the Tube will have got you to Canning Town and you'd be either on the DLR heading to Excel, or waiting on the platform for it. DLR delivers you almost to the front door of Excel, (up stairs and across link bridge) whereas the cable car station is about 500m away.

The only people using it to get to the O2 and back, in any practical sense, will be the housing development next to Excel.
I'm not one for web debates etc, however, a few posts back you wrote:

I still stand by what I have said regarding getting from the entrance of the 02 to the Excel entrance- the cable car is faster.

Anyway, I'm off to London, to ride the cable car. getmecoat

No, but then it's not designed for that. So it'll hopefully prove popular in spite of moving slowly. You'd hope the tube would be quicker, because it's a damn sight less pleasant.
