How dozy is your KFC?
Discussion
Went to my local KFC a fortnight ago, tried to order 2 variety meals: 20 minute wait says girl, no it won't says I, give me my money back please. Tried again today, against my better judgement: 12 minute wait this time or it would have been if I hadn't walked out. So I went to a drive-thru one further away, my order was pretty much ready by the time I had 'drive round the corner please' (Think Apu, Simpsons) What sort of service do you get at your local branch?
where fried chicken is concerned i dont mind waiting if the chicken is going to be fresh. Same goes for burgers. happy to wait.
However not that long ago I had to wait 20min for two double cheeseburgers at McDonalds, not even an apology for waiting so long. Mind you this was at lunch time, at a town centre McDs during half term. Still... should have been done within 5.
Nowadays I think I spend less time waiting in argos for my items then I do waiting in somewhere like McDs.

I've never, ever received the dipping sauce I ordered.
They always ask, I always say mayo, but it never comes.
I'm starting to think it's just one massive cruel joke and that dipping sauce actually doesn't exist.
Exactly my experience - I even ask them to list the dipping sauces so I can choose one, so it's probably the longest part of the ordering process. I've never found out what they taste like They always ask, I always say mayo, but it never comes.

Went last week.
Very rarely go, but it had been a long day, was on my way to a mates house, stopped to grab something at the drivethrough.
"It'll just be a minute, please park over there and I'll bring it over."
20 minutes later, she appeared with my food, and some little ice-cream things that looked like they were made of plastic, as an apology for the wait.
Which I thought was fair enough.
Got to my mates, about 3 minutes in the car, everything was stone cold apart from my burger, and they'd forgotten his beans and corn.
Won't be back, should have known better.
Surely a drivethrough is where you drive up, place your order and then receive what you ordered without having to park up? You drive in - and drive out with your food? Being asked to park up surely means its no longer functioning as a drivethrough.Very rarely go, but it had been a long day, was on my way to a mates house, stopped to grab something at the drivethrough.

My local one is clean, tidy, they're very prompt (barely have to wait), the food is always piping hot (although the fries can sometimes be a little soggy), and I've never had cause for complaint.
But that's the thing with franchise businesses - they're only as good as the franchisee. Guess my local is a good one.

Like with McDs,any deviation from the norm( no lettuce etc) means their brains implode and it takes ages to sort.2 of my local ones are halal stores,so would not serve the pulled chicken burger for some stupid reason
I've been out of the country for most of the year and had KFC for the first time a couple of weeks back. The whole place seems to have taken a turn for the worst. I had the new flavoured chicken bite things and they didn't have BBQ sauce so I got sweet chilli and it was absolutely disgusting. A mucus like goo that the bits of chicken were drowning in. Impossible to eat without making a mess and the little fork they gave was useless. I can't believe it was actually tested in a real life context.
The worst bit was the new style lemon wipe was a pale imitation of it's former self

Yup. The peri peri / chilli sauce isn't much better. In fact I think your description could apply to them all; very much drowned in sticky goo. I do enjoy a KFC, however, they really need to look at their SOPs and get the restaurants running as smoothly as McDonalds and Burger King. Whenever I go in, they're usually a tip, with half-eaten food on the table, all manner of debris on the floor around the counter, people milling all over the place as nothing is ever served to you when you order it. I tend not to go at "rush hour" times, but not exactly dropping by 5 minutes before closing either, yet they never have anything ready.
The restaurants have just had a big refurb a little while back, and they look good, but they seem to be terminally under-staffed, and forever disorganised. It's a shame really, as I do think their product is good, and I never feel short-changed when I've been, but the waiting and the state of the restaurants tends to make me opt for Burger King.
