Are you planning on some sort of vampire execution? Do you mean steak knives?

Our steak knives came from M&S, much of a muchness really, no doubt someone will post up that the sabatier ones are the best, however our cheapy M&S jobbies are quite respectable.

I bought my bro a set of sabatier steak knives for christmas. No doubt you could spend an awful lot more (they were about £30) but they were pretty solid and looked good too.

I've got a set of Laguiole steak knives and forks.....they do look nice but for some or no reason (I've no idea why - must be the design)they are woeful to use. It seems they are so 'shallow' that your fingers keep touching what you are cutting.

yes

Why do you need a steak knife? Never really understood it. It's not a decent piece of beef is hard to cut...

It must have been Harvesters or similar that introduced them to add an air of ceremony to eating a steak, but only to hide the fact it's crap steak.
Try cutting a thick fillet steak with anything other than a steak knife and come back later wink

there's something reassuringly manly about cutting into a big chunk of meat with what is essentially a small version of a saw.

Steak knives are an interesting one. As you all know eating is not just about the taste but also all the other senses. With the use of a good steak knife then the apparent effort to cut the steak is much less and it's perceived tenderness is increased (even if it is a well hung fillet for example which should be so tender to cut anyway). For this reason the choice of steak knife is important.

If you choose a steak knife which is serrated then you have to 'saw' through the fibers of the meat and the perception is that it is tougher then perhaps it is. This is why all the best steak knifes are non serrated and kept razor sharp. With non serrated knives the cutting process will be smoother, easier and more enjoyable.

Whatever knifes you choose (and buy them by looking for the characteristics that you would look for in any knife) keep them honed and you will enjoy them all the more.

I got mine from donald russell (you can google for his site) and they are fantastic.
