Me and the wife both have birthdays close together in January, so instead of buying presents in advance, for last few years we have always had joint celebration at the weekend in the middle of both our birthdays. We normally stay up town in a nice hotel, have a nice meal, and do a bit of sale shopping the next day.
However this year we have 6 month old son to consider, and London sale shopping is not very baby friendly so we have decided to have just a Sunday day out instead of a whole night and day out.
Mother-in-Law will look after little one while we are out for the day.
We will do some sale shopping first, and then have a meal about 3pm, we have managed to get bookings in both of the above restaurants for 3pm, and now need to cancel one of them.
So which one?

Take her up the OXO tower.
You wasn't even a member when that was funny, and I don't really remember anyone joking about someones wife in such a way. Seems a bit personal to me. About as intelligent as your retarded waffle on the winter tyre threads.

Of the 2 suggested by the OP, I'd go for The Savoy Grill every time. Went there just before Christmas and had an excellent meal. My only other input would be that if you do go for the Savoy Grill and it's just the 2 of you, ask for a table in the centre of the room rather than one of the tables for 2 lined up along the left hand wall, which were placed far too close together for my liking at least.
