Hmm, major industrial lager co jump on bandwagon with industrial cider. Don't get me wrong, mass produced cider is ok to drink, but just not for me thanks.
I had a surprisingly nice bottle of Henney's at the weekend (from some supermarket or other). Light, although 6% alcohol, tasted of apples, a bit fizzy and with a hint of the farmyard, just how I like it.
Ive never seen anywhere you can buy your more real type cider from around here apart from once a pub we went in had propper stuff. Cant remember what it was but it was one of the best drinks ive ever had tasted brilliant and was strong as hell. cant remember if I have mentioned this before, but henrey westons vintage 8.2% is probably the nicest shop bought cider I have tried, not counting cider maker's shops, like local ones that sell it to you in those plasic milk bottle type things.
not tried old rosie tho, might have to try and source some to 'compare' to westons vintage.

I think I said it a few pages back but fk me be careful on the high percentage Westons stuff, its that nice and goes down so well that you end up drinking it so quickly that all of a sudden, BOSH, your completely wasted!
Anyway, I know it'll be frowned upon but i've recently taken a liking to Koppaberg's Strawberry and Lime variety, nicer than the mixed fruit which to me tastes a bit medicinal.

Oh, and has anyone ever come across this before?
I only ask as my local co-op sell it, had it a couple of times and really enjoyed it then actually looked at the bottle one day and found it was made on my doorstep at a farm about a mile away!
So yeah, just wondering how big they are and how far out of the valleys of Huddersfield its crept.

YES! lol, I know that feeling totally, after drinking 2 bottles quite quickly, it suddenly hit me with a wall of drunk.after a couple more I was wasted, but then I had 3 more ringwood 'old thumper's'.
the next day, omg, I thought I was dying, couldnt get out of bed as I would have fallen down. I really shouldnt drink too much in one go.
might have been that I made 4 pints of really strong snake bite in my stomach in a short time lol
I suspect that's a myth, but depending on the ABV.
The speciality of my local student pub in Brighton (also a bit of a dog-on-a-rope kind of place) was 'snakebite' made from a bottle of Special Brew, and a bottle of Diamond White, all in a pint glass with a double Pernod and black in it.
One didn't need too many of those, I can tell you.

Nearby to here is Winkleigh Cider. Used to be Inch's (founded by Sam Inch) bought some time after he passed on by bd Bulmers who raped the brand and closed down the Winkleigh operation. Winkleigh Cider emerged shortly after this. The Master Cider Maker learned his trade under Sam Inch and now makes products in the traditional way.
Bought by the gallon on site it's not much more than a pound a pint for 6% stuff, which is quite strong enough if you want to stay standing all evening.
Used to know a local lady whose favourite meal was cock 'n' cider.

Some of you guys are talking about places where you can fill up large containers of Cider. That sounds fantastic to me. Where is the nearest place to Surrey I can do this?
Suffolk? Somerset?Try here: http://www.localfoodsurrey.com/drinks/the-garden-c...
