Going for posh meal in London on Saturday evening so gives me chance to drag the wife across London to sample five guys burger.
Really hope it's good (we have an excellent one in Manchester called Almost Famous)
Hope the posh meal isn't five guys lol. I'm going bk in a few weeks time for round 3 Really hope it's good (we have an excellent one in Manchester called Almost Famous)
Went to Five Guys for lunch & I thought was pretty good (Almost Famous in Manchester is better)
No not gone back after my disappointment at their burgers.
But tried a new place near me a couple of times recently called Dip & Flip, corner of Northcote Rd and Battersea Rise, which I am impressed with. Chunky and tasty burgers served daringly pink although wasn't a fan of the american cheese but the highlight for me is these french dip sandwiches which is just a soft roll packed with a choice of thinly sliced beef, lamb, chicken and currently turkey, nothing else, served with a dipping gravy.
Worth a visit it if your south of the river.

I can't understand how Shake Shack always seems to have about 50 staff crammed in their Covent Garden kitchen but still only seem to manage to serve a customer every 2-3 minutes. What is it that they are all doing, and with so many of them, how come you still have to wait so long for them to come up with the burger?
Five Guys seem to have a vastly more efficient production line.
Prefer Five Guys burgers but wish they had some decent drinks like Shake Shack's shakes.

Just finished a rather nice take out cheeseburger and not very good fries from the five guys here in Westminster*.
A very nice burger, a little too greasy, but it hit the spot very nicely, with lettuce, cheese and fried onions. Any extra sauce would have made it incredibly soggy.
Fries were slightly underdone, and I'm not a fan of the 'homestyle' where they don't peel them first. The choose your own drink is something that's growing on me; raspberry diet coke is quite nice.
I'll happily go again, maybe outside of the lunchtime rush, and maybe to one closer to home and see if the fries are any better there.
Verdict - 8/10. Bettered by fatburger, though they've no locations near to me anymore, unfortunately.

Five Guys in the UK have finally started selling the hot dogs as I mentioned on here the other day. Went and tried one today and all I can say is.....
Oh my god they are awful!!!
They taste like a cheap tinned hotdog frank. You know the mechanically recovered chicken kind! They are served in a long bum cut all the way through that make them impossible to eat and the taste of the sausage was just awful. Stick to the burgers!

I love the chips, I hate the skin on chips (always have done) but love them. We go to the reading one and see the cook it all (may be same in London one) and they cook the chips 3 times. quite why you'd go to a burger place and get a hot dog i don't understand anyway. it's like ordering chicken at a steak place.

Five guys was disappointing imo. Def not worth the premium over a BK lunch, even if it was on expenses!!
