Following this with interest. Strongly considering one to replace my oven for small meals. Like the idea of the pressure cooker option as well as I'm a fan of chilli, casserole etc. Anyone have any feedback on this aspect?

Just bought the Instant Vortex duo (didn’t pay £200 mind), really impressed so far. Did sausage and home made chips for the kids, jacket potatoes, crispy chicken, all great so far

Only thing about having the capacity split between two drawers is you may need to turn things, but great device and can’t see me using the oven unless what I’m cooking is particularly large.

We have to turn things with a big single drawer. Maybe it's more of an appearance thing - TBH I did think the point of these things was the hot air would cook them all around, but I did sausages they other day and as they were white underneath before being turned. The machine beeps to tell you to turn / shake anyway.

Not had that issue with my mesh shelves, all seems to brown very evenly.

We went in a different direction to the drawer ones and bought a Tower Vortx 10-in-1, graded, for £85. It's really excellent - we were both sceptical beforehand, but it's already transformed our cooking in a couple of weeks.

I too looked at reviews and decided this would be a more versatile machine for us.
I feel sure you tempted me to buy something previously... I can't recall what it was, but whatever it was, it worked out. smile

I've often thought to buy an Air Fryer, but not entirely sure what I'd use it for. Perhaps I'll buy the Tower Vortx simply because you have one and your reviews worked out for me before. biggrin

They're brilliant if you've got kids, as you can have sausages, nuggets, fries or whatnot on the table and ready to eat in about 10 minutes. No preheating the oven for half an hour first and then taking twice as long to cook.

I live on my own most of the time - kids grown up and very happily divorced. smile

Despite having a large kitchen and 3 oven Aga, I don't really cook for myself beyond steak and chips or Charlie Biggun's things from Sainsbury's. I am really most unadventurous compared to the cooks on PH!

The Aga, of course, is great for not having to pre-heat things, but I don't really use it.

I'm wondering if an Air Fryer would be handy for me for cooking more tasty things than my current rather limited repertoire.

PS - Yes! The Jura! Very good it is too. I couldn't live without it. smile

I think it would work for you. I use it for most my cooking. We've got an electric Aga, which costs a bloody fortune to run, so the Air Fryer's a God send.

Just been looking at this, and I think it makes more sense for us than the 2 drawer Ninja, as it will do Pizza and other stuff, plus you can also get a chip basket that fits on the rotisserie so, the chips should be evenm better and you dont have to shale the baskets like a Ninja

Another recent air fryer convert here. Got the Ninja family version

Had it about a month. So far so good. Have used the oven very little if at all since we got it. Very good for feeding the kids the kind of things they like, nuggets, waffles, fish fingers chips etc. Quick and easy. I've cooked myself chicken breasts a few times and does a good job of those too.

@NDA

BITD when the Jura Outlet was cheap, eh!

If you're cooking solo, then the Vortx might be a bit big - but there again, you can rotisserie a small chicken in an hour or so and much else, so it'll accommodate what you need it to.

I wouldn't bother with the chip tumbler tbh - they're perfect just sat on the shelves, both from raw and pre-prepared frozen.

ETA
The best pizza base garlic bread we've ever tasted too - it just needed a bit of a trim to be squarer!

This is the same machine, same supplier (graded stuff for cheap), just a different brand:

This is good for the money, if you have a Costco membership. Considering getting one for the office but my colleagues are animals and would likely use it but never clean it

I'm happy with the Instantpot one I have which comes with a pressure cooker lid and an airfryer one. Airfryer one gets used a whole lot more but pressure cooker option is pretty handy. That's also on offer at Costco

I'll probably plump for the model that Bonefish has - for reasons hinted at above. smile Plus the Tower Xpress is 11 litres. i.e. large.

Air fryer would be ideal, I've just make bacon egg and cheese pie in mine with a pre made pastry case. Proper lunch and no time and effort at all

These devices look good, but are they any use for, say, preparing a whole meal for a family of 4? For example, could you roast a whole chicken and enough chips for 4 at the same time?

Do they cook things from frozen?

Thinking about getting one for energy saving reasons rather than anything else. Any suggestions for a model man enough to do 4 dinners in one go?
