I usually go for the red wine and then remove and reduce to a sticky jus, but I've tried this one too and it's good;

shred meat

Did this today and just eaten it. Delicious! I went a bit 'off piste' with the glaze, as I didn't have American Style mustard, so used half English and half Dijon. Also added a pinch of Chinese Five Spice and a splash of Balsamic Vinegar. As there were no quantities and I didn't want to overpower the meat, I probably didn't make enough glaze. Next time I do it I will know to make more. It was still lovely and moist though, and a really nice flavour. Served with mashed potato and sauteed savoy cabbage/leeks. Can I ask how you did this in a slow cooker? With the ingredients list I can’t help but think this would be more like a soup without the stages to cook the moisture out of the vegetables.

You're right, follow the instructions to the letter as it helps layer the flavours really well and once it looks just a tiny bit too watery I put it in the slow cooker.Can I ask how you did this in a slow cooker? It's normally in there for about four hours and comes out perfectly. I don;t put the celery or cinnamon in but add extra chillis to the top of the mixture which get removed about two hours in.

onion & spuds in bottom of the pot

cooked on high for 3 hours then low for last hour & half turned the lamb every hour or so
when done stripped meat from the bone put meat back in sauce (cooker was off)
Heated up some chappatis
job done
the spuds were out of this world...........lamb was lovely as well

Just finished a portion of this cooked by OH while I was out for the day. He text me earlier to say it smelt lovely, and the taste lived up to the smell! As suggested above, the potatoes were amazing, a revelation for me. Definitely one we'll be repeating.Lamb shoulder
