Wendy's to give the UK another go, maybe
https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/american-burger-cha...

The article doesn't seem to mention it but they were definitely in the UK some years ago, I used to regularly go and enjoy their square burgers and bowls of chili, and I remember they had salt and pepper pots on each table. Maybe they were only in London, I don't know. The weird triangular McDonalds at the bottom of Shaftesbury Avenue definitely used to be Wendy's, and they had a shop on Oxford St as well, just opposite where BhS was, I think that one turned into McDonalds as well.
I recall going to the one on Shaftesbury Avenue and Oxford St as a kid.

Yeah the Wendy's on Oxford St turned into a Maccy D's eventually. I used to use it a lot at uni as it was between my two buildings for lectures most days. Even for a central London store it was/is always rammed and the food was always piping hot as there was never time for it to be held long!

In and out is kinda legendary no? Id love to try one.
I once flew to LA to check out the hype, I was disappointed. Thin patties similar to McDonalds, far too much salad, awful tasteless chips and animal sauce is basically burger sauce. Massively overrated.
This.

I was in LA for a few days last week, and a local recommended this as a 'must visit'.

It felt like a wasted meal, when I could have had any number of delicious Mexican/Vietnamese alternatives.

It is.

They haven't expanded much though, and I don't think they're planning to.
The reason is, nothing they serve is frozen. It's all fresh and each store must be within a certain radius of their distribution network. It's a family owned business. I get why you'd stop expanding after a certain point. I think they have 300 or so outlets. Big enough.
Was going to say, I’m pretty sure it’s doing over $1bn in revenue.

£9 for the bacon and cheese burger, £3 to double it up and £3 for the skin on fries in Cheltenham. No prizes for guessing the name. Burger was very pink and there was plenty of salad within. Reminded me of a Tommies Burger. Would come again.

Finally added Wimpy to the list. I knew it was st but I just wanted to try it due to the history and it's safe to say it was beyond st. A basic kebab shop burger and chips charged nearly £10.

Also decided to give 5 Guys another try and left disappointed once again. Tbh I'd take a double whopper with cheese and bacon over 5 guys any day.

My top 5 is still unchanged

1.Bleeker Burger
2.Shake Shack
3.Burger & Beyond
4.Honest burger
5.Bone daddy's (mac daddy)

^^^ that looks far better value than the burger I had at lunchtime.
I went to the new Cloche d'Or shopping centre in Luxembourg. There's a burger place there called "Big Fernand". I think they're a French chain.
Burgers are large, cooked to order (mine was medium), and the fries are good .... but, you have to wait for them to cook and serve at the counter.

Price: burger + fries + 330ml Coke = €16

Went to Honest Burgers in Reading last night.

Honest Burger, Fries, Pint of Wild Weather Pale Ale ... 17 quid.

Enjoyed it immensely. Absolutely loads of fries, I was stuffed. Burger really good too.

I'm a big fan of Honest Burgers, really like the wings as well.

Is the one in Reading still hidden by scaffolding?

I like the burgers at Honest but rosemary on fries is just wrong and it clashes with the cumin other spices in their onion rings and makes a very confused meal

Had an Honest double chilli burger with fries and slaw in Cambridge on Sunday, very nice indeed, enjoyed the chips as well.

Not sure about the Frank's wings though, a bit of a fishy taste to the batter I thought?

I think I prefer Five Guys overall.

None of them as good as a real homemade burger at home though.

Better just to avoid the onion rings. Weird taste, thick batter, and very greasy / oily.

Took son for burgers, gourmet type place.

Me:
1x chicken burger
1x cheese burger
Him:
1 adult size hotdog
1 mini chicken burger
1 mini classic burger.

Large thick chips with rosemary to share.

Strawberry milkshake + Orange juice.

£30.20

Waiter was concerned I had ordered too much but I hadn't had a big lunch so no issues at all. Finished leftovers of kids meal too. hehe

They had loads of other burgers with onion rings and random sauces and ingredients, but personally would rather have less crap and go for two simpler burgers.

Next time you're in Cambridge, try Steak & Honour or Butch Annie's for a burger.
