My wife likes more lean and less fat and a low salt to sugar ratio ....

From the doughy looking middle, it might need a longer final proving before it goes in the oven.

Good spot .

My wife always says "It makes good toast"

Which is the ultimate damning with faint praise

I guess I will never consistently be able to get bread right

Love being Chuck Yeager and failing though smile

Worth checking the temp where you're proving as well, ideally yeast likes a constant ambient between 20 & 30degC to really get going. If it's cooler or there's a draught the yeast won't activate as well.

That's the best looking fried bread posted on here for quite some time!

More than the normal number of points deducted for the hash browns though. Those AND fried bread on the plate is a bit much!

There's a great deal of rectangle going-on on that plate.

A Mondrian breakfast

You'd maybe expect some gouda on the side

Incredible effort. Can't believe I'm typing this but that bacon, although amazing, is waaay too thick.

Wasn't "Bacon Chops" a thing a while back ?

I'm repeating my "Sausage and hash brown roll" from yesterday, but for lunch today.

I would prefer tinned toms not salad ones, but otherwise spot on.

The fried bread was top notch.

I thought it needed some mushrooms though. Unfortunately they were an extra and it was already more than enough to eat.

I should have gone for the smaller breakfast, and added mushrooms rather than have the special.

3 boilies is a good effort. Funny how 3 eggs scrambled or in an omelette seems nothing, but 3 boiled or poached fills you right up.

Field report: Empire Cafe, Newbury. Hangover and lack of enthusiasm to cook took me here for the time, despite living here 18 years.

£5.40 + £1.60 BP + £2 pot of tea

Pretty good, but would prefer beans more reduced. The sausage was decent.
