It's only £300 in auctions now, or around £350 after commission etc, so not as bad as £450, wink

Could be worse - you could be after the 18yo Mizunara edition that came out recently - only £2100-2200 at auction or so!
Jeeez!
I can't find any live auctions. Someone sell me a bottle for £300 I can come collect before Christmas please smile

This was on offer in Tesco and athough I've been left slightly underwhelmed by Highland Park 12 and Dark Origins whisky I thought I'd give it a try as I like smokey/peated whisky.
Will be sampled this weekend...

I bought a bottle of that this morning. Along with Jura (Superstition I think), Bowmore and decided to give the Tesco Finest single malt a go at £20 a bottle. Not sure what that will be like, but I'll have a try of it tonight (and I might wash it down with the Highland Park since it would be rude not to try that too).

ETA: Tried the Tesco whisky. Only had a small glass but so far totally unimpressed. Tastes of alcohol and nothing else. Maybe it will grow on me but even at £20 a bottle I'm regretting it.

On the other hand - have a glass of the Highland Park next to me. Only had one mouthful so far, but my word I like that a lot!

Finally gat around to opening the Dragon Legend this weekend (a bottle of Teeling caused the delay) and it's not at all what I was expecting or hoping for. I fail to understand how they can describe this as smokey, it has a spicy/sweetish taste more reminiscent of Oloroso cask finishes. Laphroaig it ain't.

However.... it's very drinkable, so much so I've gone and bought another bottle.

Nice, Ive had their Revival, Evolution, Torfa and Octaves this year and enjoyed everyone of them, I'll have to look this one up....

There’s a port one too.

As good as the octaves.

4 new ones i think? Port, port peated, sherry and was it bourbon? Tried to visit the SMWS bar in London just now but they had to delay opening due to a late delivery. I didn't have time to wait around, frown

True story...
I have a good friend that has lost the two middle fingers on one hand, so only has the outer ones, he always says "I'll have two fingers" hehe

I spotted the new ones when browsing after seeing your post, it'll be rude not to try them all....

The correct approach. Suspect we’ll do the same.

Let's know what the Caskmates Jameson is like, I'm Irish and see it around a lot but never tried it as I was afraid the Stout would give it a strange/unwelcome taste. Hope to be proved wrong !

Has anyone had some good drams today? I'm travelling so not had much chance, but about to settle back with this sample which I took with me. 31yo Ardbeg from 1974.

Finally been able to try the Midleton Very Rare after the OH kindly gave me a bottle for Chrimbo. Not what I was expecting to be honest, lovely and smooth, beautiful flavour but much lighter than the Scottish malts I’m used to.
