Are there any coffees that taste like coffee? I don’t want one that tastes of quince jelly, ripe goji or armpit Camembert.
Having just got a new bean to cup machine (sorry Robbie) I’m trying a few different beans but prefer to stay on the safe side.

All three in that pack are amongst my favourites, and the Italian Job is very much 'proper coffee' flavoured.

They all taste like coffee. Just like wines with tasting notes are still clearly identifiable as wines.Having just got a new bean to cup machine (sorry Robbie) I’m trying a few different beans but prefer to stay on the safe side.
A Bean to Cup isn't going to give you the clarity to pull tasting notes anyway, it's going to taste similar to the other drinks you make in the machine.

Rave are ok for everyday Bean to Cup.All three in that pack are amongst my favourites, and the Italian Job is very much 'proper coffee' flavoured.
The Italian Job is a dark roast (basically burnt) so think tasting notes coal - similar to Nero/Starbucks etc

After a year and a bit of using my trusty moka pot whilst working from home I’ll be forced to switch back to my Aeropress as I’m off back to the office. Pity electric moka pots don’t exist, something similar to the plug in turkish coffee makers would be perfect
They do, Bialetti for one make them. Have a googly for moka Elettrikabigandclever said:

Which beans can people recommend?
Chap on here (one of the early posts) who roasts his own said M&S Colombian was the nicest supermarket bean, which is good but I’m tempted to buy even better
Recently had some given from “Grind” which were nice but very expensive. Is there a middle ground, some 3rd wave coffee place that roasts amazing beans that doesn’t cost the earth?
- will be going in a Delonghi Dinamica machine. Sadly won’t be upgrading the machine anytime soon so just need to make the most of cleaning the grinder out regularly, using filtered water and best beans for the money!

M&S Colombian is as terrible as all the other supermarket beans, so just avoid it.
M&S Colombian is £3.50 per pack (227g) so works out at about £15 per kg. That's going to be hard to match....
Has Bean's White Blend is delicious.

At £24 per kg, it's dearer, but will be a noticeable difference from Supermarket.
i'm glad the first response was that supermarket beans are terrible. I think in general mass produced / branded coffee beans are all terrible. The beans make a million times more difference to the quality of the end cup than the machinery used to brew it. I can't believe how tasteless or bland some of the popular brands are, and yet people gladly insist that the cheapest Lavazza beans in Tesco (ground 6-12 months ago) taste great in their £2000 home coffee 'rig'. I respect Nespresso owners more in a way

Anything from a supermarket tastes like smoking a chipped out cigarette/Drum tobacco in general.
Sad but true. Occasionally, if I have mistimed my orders, I'll end up buying a packet of supermarket beans thinking 'they can't all be bad'. My optimism is dashed as I weight out 13g of dark, oily beans, shortly followed by actual disgust in how it tastes. Why, why why do companies waste their time and mine making such crap coffee?

For an Aeropress do I need Filter or Cafetiere grind (& yes, I know I need a grinder)?https://www.hasbean.co.uk/collections/has-bean-ble...

Agree.I'd probably get a better Coffee using a single origin Nespresso Ethiopian than pulling a manual shot with Lavazza or Illy.
Talking of grinders, the next Niche drop is tomorrow at 7pm.
Now they sell via their website they seem to be doing these more regularly and the last one still had stock around 1030pm, so wasn't as mad a frenzy as the ones earlier this year. I do wonder what this means for those that are trying to sell these on eBay for several hundred over retail.

Struggle to believe they sold over cost, but hey ho.Now they sell via their website they seem to be doing these more regularly and the last one still had stock around 1030pm, so wasn't as mad a frenzy as the ones earlier this year. I guess there are other options out there, Niche is no longer the 'next best thing', and there's only so much demand for grinders .
