I do wonder what this means for those that are trying to sell these on eBay for several hundred over retail.
They can swap it with the guys who are struggling to sell gym gear now gyms are open smile

I'm just trying a 'special' from Pact.

Casa Loma Pink Bourbon beans. Apparently very small quantities ever available.

Very, very tasty via my v60, although I doubt my palette is refined enough to really notice the difference over their regular beans.
their specials are actually fairly special, but often very expensive. The bourbon has come up a few times now and I've never gone for it though. Glad it's good!

Anyone unfortunate enough to have tried servicing a Gaggia Classic 2015 here?

My MiL asked me to change the group gasket on her classic, as mine (PID aside) "looks just like hers".

It's not. It's the dreaded 2015 model, and one of the plastic rails in the group head has been pinged off before I got my hands on it.

It looks like the plastic rail could be re-glued to the metal, but it's almost impossible to get at it with the group head still attached to the boiler.

Replacement group head is about £50. frown

Has anyone had any good results with supermarket beans using a Sage barista touch/Pro? I used to always buy supermarket stuff for use in a French press but haven't tried any in the Sage.

I want to line up some emergency beans for the inevitable times I run out of freshly roasted stuff...

Would love to hear anyone's feedback!

I like espresso but the machine is broken for a while now, I got into the MokaPot but got tired of it and started with the French Press and this has become my best bet for the 2-3 cups I drink a day as it is easy to make the strength that you prefer I mostly use beans and a Delonghi burr grinder, about €60. As for as the beans go, Spiller and Tate Signature Blend is my favourite.

This seems to be a common problem. I'll strip it down and try glueing it back in. If not, it's replacement group head time.

Hopefully araldite won't be too toxic for this!

Although I've not tried moka or French press (have had aeropress at work with a colleague) - I'd agree.

Love my v60. Quick, simple, cheap - yet I can actually taste the 'notes' despite me being an utter heathen who adds milk and sugar!

Have weaned myself down to a small splash of full fat and a single cube of unrefined brown though.

No, it's just not worth the bother.

Keep a Pod Machine or instant for the rare occasion you run out.

There is genuinely no point making a manual drink using Supermarket/Illy/Lavazza etc.

Also, if they are back up beans, they will just get more and more stale, the shot will take seconds to run through the burnt, stale, dry, crumbly beans and you're just wasting your time when you can just get an equally bad coffee with Nescafe.

Robbie speaks the truth. Managing your just-in-time coffee deliveries is half the fun! Also start scoping out local independent cafes - find one that makes coffee you like that sells beans you can grab in an emergency.

The point is that it's not in decent condition when you buy it from a supermarket, it's already way past its best.

Here's mine, seems to work well enough!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PRPK6R8?ref=ppx_pop...

Obviously, there are tonnes of much cheaper stovetop versions, but I needed electric as it's in my home office.

Yeah, it's already stale and critically, it's way over roasted.

Bought a V60 today from the helpful guys at Bella Barista, and some fresh beans to grind at home. Never used one before, the results are quite excellent. Now I understand the need for a gooseneck kettle. Everything I do with coffee quickly gets fancy and expensive laugh

It is, but is it worth the hassle of making it?

Given the choice between grinding some supermarket beans and making an espreeso based drink or an instant, I'd just do the instant.

It's so simple, and so brilliant.

I'm over espresso.
