I miss The Big Breakfast.

But they stopped those years ago now, so that's pretty much when I stopped going to McDs.
yep was great.

tim hortons is dire for non breakfast in uk at least. horrible. not tried the breakfast as was so disgusted by the burgers etc on 2 non consecutive occasions, at 2 locations. (i thought the 1st time may have been one off...) rank.
A few times in the past when I've been working away, I found myself having one most mornings for weeks on end (stopping off on the way to the office and picking on up).

And the missus hates McDs, but she'd have a Big Breakfast, it was the only thing she'd have from McDs.

They were so good, I can even recall the time I had one; it was in Victoria Station in London, mid 1990s. I'm almost sure they were £1.09.

Happy days !

Went to Macdonalds today for the first time in ages. The screen ordering wasn’t linking with the kitchen so I had to go to the collection point to pay. Sat at the only table available. To my right chav family in matching black artic style parkas were letting their feral kids play on the interactive table. Their idea of playing in the table was standing on the table and playing. Behind me were a bunch of female TOWIE clones, who were discussing how they love to be individuals, but all were wearing the same black leggings and hoodie combo, with unfeasibly large pouty lips, squared off eyebrows and blonde hair. Their conversation then moved onto dating, turned out most of them had dated the same guys who called them all slags and wes then they split up.
Needless to say I quickly ate my Big Mac meal and left. I’ve never seen such a heavily chav infested place in a long time.

We went to the McD’s at Wessex Gate today, pretty busy on the drive-through, but not too bad.

We’re not regular enough to use the app, so had to shout the order out of the window.

Regular Double 1/4 cheese meal, no onions.
Large Steakhouse Stack meal.
20 Nuggets with bbq sauce (deffo changed recipe, not good)
2x Mozzarella sticks
Shake machine faulty yet again, pretty much every time we’ve been over the last 12 months.

Either the grill order 1/4 or the nuggets meant we had to wait in the carpark for the order to be brought over.

Total came to £27ish, not a cheap meal, but was reasonably fast, organised and tasted pretty good.

Once I’d removed all the greenery from the Steakhouse Stack there was a tasty burger underneath, but wouldn’t bother to order again.

It’s funny how in this review they had eyes watering at the spiciness of the sauce, I could barely taste it so perhaps ours had a smaller amount?

Went McDs today..
2 triple cheeseburgers and 1 steakhouse stack (just burgers, not meals etc). £11 quid-something.

Worthit? no not really. THe 2 triples tasted fine, that's because it customized them for extra pickles, mustard, onions. so it was freshly prepared and the extras added some moistness. steakhouse? dry as fk. i peeked inside and it had a miserable amount of sauce, about the diameter of a 50p coin. Could've gotten myself a monsterous mixed kebab for that price, or for £6-8 get a generously sized doner.

and the steakhosue stack is some £5.30 on its own, so more as a meal.. but it's not even hefty like a big tasty.

This thread seems to suggest there are some serious quality variations at mcdonalds. I have had a couple of steakhouse stacks from my local MCD and they both have been oosing with sauce to the point that it drips when eating, well melted cheese and juicy burger. I have two places local to me. One used to be really good and the other always use to forget customisations and serve cold fries. They are both decent now so I guess the crap one got a kick up the arse eventually

I think mine was one provided off a shelf instead of cooked and/orassembled to order. I hate burgers off the shelf, I'd happily wait 10min for one to be made,. which is why i opt to customize whenever i can.

I didn’t think any of them were off the shelf these days

That’s assuming 20 nuggets is a single meal!

There are serious quality variations from the same branch! Once had a bacon cheeseburger, bacon tasted fishy and it made me gag. I had to chuck it. Quite often get limp greasy fries. Been hit with stale dry buns more than a few times as well.

It isn’t like 5 guys, that is always good. Likewise my local ‘gourmet’ burger van is always good. Started going there because my local McD’s is packed like the first days of xmas sales before the internet.

That’s fair enough but we have had people recently claiming a meal for one is expensive and then listing enough food for an army hehe

My local one still hasn't managed to fix their Iron Bru machine for at least 6 months!
I'm not bothered but Mrs K would have it intravenously if she could

Mine isn't. It's also about 3 times the prices of McDonalds.

Thats not how McDonalds work. All burgers are assembled upon ordering and have been for some time.

Is this a standard thing in Scottish McD's? I'm usually hunting out a haggis supper when I am up there but may have to call into McDonalds when I am next up there, just for the novelty of being able to have an Irn Bru.

My local re-opened after a refurb and the drinks machine lasted three days before everything was "temporarily unavailable" on the app (which was a surprisingly frequent problem before the refurb, especially given how comparitively infrequently I order from McDonald's).
