Did Jailhouse on a little cast pot BBQ last nigh. Instead of steak I used beef cheek, Mrs Tickle picked a load up reduced at Easter.

Put a pan lid on and just watched it drinking rum!

Served it with baked potatoes, cooled, cut in half, oiled and placed face down on the BBQ grill for 15 mins.

I bet that was Epic.

Absolutely love beef cheek. I've been meaning to make a chili with cheeks. Will be doing so soon.

Looks fabulous Tickle.

Morrisons sell Ox cheek and pig cheek too. They are both some of my favorite cuts, they just need time.

They were from Morrisons, it was a calculated trip to stock the freezer with salmon after Good Friday.

Managed to get some dark beer in the end regardless of the no alcohol during lockdown thing here in South Africa. Taught a few South Africans how to make jailhouse over the weekend

Heads up.
Kenny Miller's book is available at around £6 delivered.
I got an as new copy for £6.50 inc P&P. It's a great book with lots of background info which is very well written.
Can't wait to try some of the other recipes.

My Kenny Miller book has just arrived. It’s much thicker than I thought it would be. So many nice sounding recipes to try in addition to jailhouse now

Thought I should share this. Jacque Pépin's chili con carne.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJSUy0TBuoY

I'm quite suprised at how er simple his method is. The guy is a legend and all that, but it does cut alot of processes that many people normally do as part of bringing out the flavour.

Not sure that looks that great with the boiled beef rather than browning it.
