As you may remember I not a fan of bottled beers but I've had a very few proper bottled lagers (especially when in France, even had bottled French local real beer)

My opinion for what it's worth Duvel - over priced, under whelming but strong

Have you ever tried a "carry-out" (or "take-home" jug from a pub ?

I shall be attending Wednesday, I'm hoping it will be a little less crowded than the Friday last year.

Before the Harveys ban, the landlady at the Lewes Arms used to sell Harveys Best for at least 15-20p per pint more than the GK stuff. She did manage to make a profit on it - I know she got her bonuses and still it outsold GK beers...
Just for closure, GK gave in in April after four months: they caved in entirely, said that they were wrong, sacked the divisional manager, and put three Harveys beers back into the Arms.

Pity it took public ridicule in the press, including the FT, and a falling share price as a result to prompt action that should have been taken much earlier.

So we're back in the Lewes Arms - but a tad more warily than before...

The best session to go for. Maximum beer range in the best condition with the most staff on duty and not too busy. Also staff not worn out like they are come the weekend! biggrin

Where I grew up near the Greene King brewery, we had a song for Abbot Ale...

Abbot Ale, Abbot Ale,
Abbot Abbot Abbot Ale,
Drink it down,
Puke it up,
Abbot Abbot Ale!

Marvelous stuff!

(maybe you have to be pissed to appreciate the song...)

Timothy Taylor Landlord is the best.

Black Sheep always goes down well.

Had a great pint of Rooster's Yankee at the weekend.

Grew to enjoy Abbot while at Cambridge.

Charles Wells Bombardier is good for Southern beer.

Oo I've not tried that one - love most of the other Badgers (with the exception of the horribly ginger Blandford Fly).

Mind you, I'm off to Arran this weekend. Yum biggrin Usually drink Blonde but they launched Milestone when I was there last autumn and I'm quite keen to try that draught (could only get bottles at the time)

You are thinking of Lambic beers, which are given a secondary fermentation in bottle like champagne. Most are flavoured with fruit, but Gueuze is natural and is somewhat champagne-like.
