Sad as it may sound but i have been to 49 different Wetherspoons so far (bit of a hobby) and the Newcastle Quayside Wetherspoons is not the best one i have been to as far as the interior is concerned but the view from the seating area outside is mint - Google Maps it (see outside) and have a look for yourself.
One day i might get to Ramsgate but it's a canny hike from here.
If you do Ramsgate, save it for the summer; the outside terrace is the best part; inside, it is just like many others.
I went late April 2022, it was still a bit nippy but people were sitting on the terrace with jackets drinking beer and hot drinks. Although food would get cold quickly.

Come to London for the week. There are 80 Weatherspoons across the 32 London boroughs. Or if down for the day, 12 in Central London you could visit easily.
It used to be this 12 but I don't think the The Knights Templar is a Wetherspoons any more.

The Crosse Keys finished its refurb recently and is well worth a visit.

Anyone here ever dine alone?

When I'm out and about on my own I have no qualms with popping into a pub for a quick drink or a pub lunch, often in a Wetherspoons. I guess it's normal to see blokes having a pint on their own so I also feel comfortable eating alone in a pub. However I wouldn't dream of going into a restaurant alone to eat.

I have eaten out on my own a few times, I traveled alone for business with an expense account a while back, hotel resturants were the usual. I have done greasy spoon cafes, carvery, steak house, fast food, chinese, indian not really the thing to take those back to the hotel room. I have stopped in a pub for a pint on my own but also bought a couple of beers and sat in a nice park, Bettersea Park is good lots of benches.

Carlisle would be an easy 'bag' for you - there are two in close proximity, Woodrow Wilson and William Rufus.

The food is decent in Woodrows, as are the prices bit it's a bit of a dingy spot and Carlisle in general is a bit depressing these days.
We are gonna do Harrogate next, then the 2 in Carlise. Pencilled in a trip to Edinburgh later this year, 8 Wetherspoons there i believe although i think one of them is in the airport which we will probably not be going to. Also pencilled in Ayr which was a church and looks canny.

Great Loudon Wainwright song about this:

I've dined alone a lot over the years. It's a lonely gig sometimes being a solo musician.

I don't like eating alone either in tbh, I've assumed most people in nice restaurants eating alone have been stood up.

Last Wetherspoons meal, presentation could have been better and the meat looked overdone but it cut fine.

It's a nice building for sure, however like every other 'spoons in the country, some of the clientele can be 'interesting' depending on day/time visited. Last time I was in there at some point last year, I fell foul of Theakston's Old Peculiar on offer @ £1.49 a pint, and table service through the app; these combined conspired to get me legless off less than £20, the first time I had to get up to go for a p*ss was a bit amusing hehe I'd sit in the main part of the pub, there's a weird part that looks as though it used to be a chapel tucked around the back, seems to be frequented by groups of Karens who scowl and grumble at anyone making noise in there.

Whether or not you can cut meat isn't really a test for whether it is overcooked, particularly when they have armed you with a serrated steak knife.

Perhaps now you understand that assumption is wrong.

The Knights Templar is indeed no more, but there's the one at Victoria Station (just called Weatherspoons), The Metropolitan Bar at Baker St station, and the Pommelers Rest at Tower Bridge. So 14, but I'm not sure Whitechapel is central. I'm tending to think within the Circle Line.

I take myself out on dates, only half the bill to pay but the conversation can drag.

I used to use Wetherspoons as my go-to eating alone place when I wanted more than fast food, but I have a friend who is a big advocate of eating out alone pretty much anywhere you feel like. I love eating out so, post covid, I've resolved to get over it and 'be more Andy' in that regard and while I still get a little uneasy about going in the place, once sat down, I've never not enjoyed it.

I quite often eat alone in restaurants. Take a book or a newspaper and it doesn’t look like you’ve been stood up.
