My Glendronach 15 from The Whisky Barrel just arrived (order was placed on 15/10/18 at 22:31).
So that's my Friday night sorted!!
Second bottle (for keeping) is on it's way as well :-)

hehe

I'm really tempted to put an ad on one of these facebooks with my Macallan Gold I have lying around. "Discontinued Macallan, not often in auction. £1000". Seems to be the way of things with Macallan bottles these days.

A couple of oddities:

Octomore from Bruichladdich distillery...massively peaty and 59.3% Alcohol

The Makers Mark bourbon is the Cask strength bottle and is around 60% - quite smooth too.

Found this stored away so thought I would give it a go tonight but I will have to think of a plan b now.

I know they say to have blended whisky and coke but this looks premixed from the bottle! Around 40 years in the bottle have taken there toll, only 300ml left out of the bottle.

That's crazy! The ceramic decanters are known for breathing a lot and losing whisky over time. Have you tried it? Looks like a sherry bomb but I suspect it shouldn't be? Also looks like the cork died too?

Not that I remember, perhaps in a bar on a night out or something. Always been more exciting stuff to try instead of opening it!

I gave it a small taste but tasted awfully rough but I have never tried any of the royal salutes before so don’t have anything to compare it to, yeh the cork crumbled instantly when I lifted the top off.

Bit of a shame a bottle wasted but plan b went down nicely

hehe I'm watching the current auctions closely, some people did very well to get them delivered and into the early auctions. Mine won't even be despatched until early next week. confused

£1800 with a week to go on whisky hammer.

https://www.whiskyhammer.co.uk/item/17040/Macallan...

Next auctions need the bottles by around 12th November, so no immediate rush now. All this paying over the odds for new limited release whiskies surely can't last long term though, so I've no intention to hang onto it at all. Any profits from this will go to funding next year's distillery trip all being well.

Of course, if anyone on here is daft enough to want to splurge about £2.5k on a bottle of NAS whisky, I'm all ears. wink

- that's a joke btw, in case any mods are reading. hehe

I think it’s quite poor that WH accepted these. Clearly they wanted them on the website and accepted them - business is business I suppose, but these clearly came well after their cut off point.

My second bottle arrived 4 days early.
Opened one last night and absolutely this is as good as the previous release, loving it.

It's really good isn't it! Is this going to stay readily available now do we know? If there's any chance of it running out, I'm going to stock up on another.

Opened a Glengoyne 14 tonight, was on offer in M&S for £32. Rude not to buy at that price, and it's not bad at all either. smile

According to the distillery there should not be any breaks in supply now.
However I think that's based on the original demand for the previous edition.
This one is has been reviewed so well online I suspect they are just about to find out they can't meet demand.

Loving it though, and yes the Glengoyne 14 year old is excellent for £32.

My friends at House Of Malt received 5 cases of the 15, they don’t expect any more (that’s the picture I posted the other day).

I read that they simply didn't have the right casks coming on to keep releasing the 15 y.o.

I bought a bottle of the 2015 edition 15 on the strength of the awards/reviews and was stunned - not normally a fan of the heavily sherried malts but this was outstanding - I bought another one and then they ran out ( unless you were prepared to pay +++) Should have bought every bottle I could get my hands on at, IIRC, £45. Glad to hear the latest edition sounds as good

Sorry - Sinsheim way. As normal you'll be able to buy it cheaper there anyway through the likes of whisky.de shortly. smile
Thanks crmcatee. YHM
