Left a bar on a thursday night after a few pints, went with my hosuemate to this random foreign blokes flat up the hill...

Got to his flat, it was a basement place, and it was fooking weird, some rooms were normal some were like they were un modified cellars.. like caves in a flat..

So he bought some drinks and a pack of smokes through and we started to get on it.. About an hour later, he bought through some absynth.. We had some shots of it, and that's all I remember I woke up the next day at 4pm in one of those un-developed cellar rooms.. My housemate had gone out to be sick and fallen asleep in some shrubs..

I was very close to being fired that day.
Did you inexplicably have trouble sitting down for a few days?

IIRC the absinthe you can buy now is very much "de-tuned".

Got a bottle somewhere. Its not as bad as people make out its just strong, couple of shots before going out as mentioned above is the way forward
+1. Had an absinthe summer in '94 with a few bottles a friend brought back from Prague. Every night out started with a large shot. Not had it since as I find a couple of gin martinis has the same effect. smile

had an absinthe and nitrous oxide party at university. It was GREAT.

giving girls champagne cocktails (with sugar cube, as you would with brandy) made with absinthe resulted in many inhibitions being lost, and some rather good stories biggrin

7 shots at the end of a heavy night out in edinburgh drunk and I woke up at 10am lying on the pavement with no phone or wallet (my mate had them for some reason) and £4 in my pocket. Single train fare home was £3.60. Got home and didnt get out of bed for the next day and a half. headache Not one of my better nights out.

It's hideous but I do fancy a night on the 'Le Earthquakes'

Shot of absinthe and a shot of cognac in the same glass.

The word of the day is 'efficient'

Le Earthquake looked tres bonne.

Will have to try one (a few) of them.

Like everything else it's not a great idea to go nuts drinking Absinthe, but a few will be fine. I've never hallucinated from the wormwood. The theory about the dodgy green chemicals sounds quite plausible.

Glasto, 1999, Sunday night.

What do we have left to drink?

Absinthe.

Oh, do we have any mixers?

Red Wine?

Lets give that a go.

Not one of the greatest decisions in the history of drinking.

Any i have ever had it has resulted in me not remembering much afterwards, just slight flashbacks of falling in bushes and getting very lost.

I very much doubt id try it again.
My experience was exactly the same. House party, absinthe, going for a walk (not feeling too well), getting lost, waking up in a bush, managed to find my way back to the party... woke up in my bed biggrin

I've done that without drinking any Absinthe!

I used to be quite keen on the stuff, I even have an absinthe spoon somewhere. When its prepared properly its no more firey than a single malt.

Death in the afternoon is a cracker too(absinthe and champagne) invented by hemingway apparently.

Never experienced any hallucinations but its consumption always means the night will take some interesting turns.

I rather like it, then again I quite like Green Chartreuse as well. The stuff available in the UK is very tame so tend to stock up on trips to Spain and France.

Last time me and my friends had Absinthe we invented cat skating and flower pot hedge surfing.

Needless to say I have not drunk a drop since but my neighbours complaint petition is still outstanding!
