Oh come on, any form of withdrawals off caffeine are going to be a cakewalk compared to any proper drug withdrawals
Possibly, but most people won't ever experience any withdrawals from other drugs as most people aren't addicted to "proper" drugs.

I'm not suggesting illicit use of drugs, more like strong painkillers from the doctors etc.

Are many people addicted to them? I use painkillers, occasionally prescription ones, but have never found I've had any withdrawal symptoms at the end of a course.

You can't dismiss it just because it's not as severe as other types of withdrawal. It's still very real, and very unpleasant.

Maybe the term "addiction" was wrong but there is a noticeable change in my performance and mood if I don't have caffeine during the day.

I think that it is generally accepted as an addiction. In fact I seem to remember reading somewhere that caffeine is one of the most addictive substances known. I could be making that up though....

I have a proper caffeine addict on my staff, albeit one who drinks it in a very controlled way. She brings in a flask of coffee every day, will not drink any extra coffee, but starts to get a headache if she _doesn't_ get to drink some. If we stop somewhere, the flask is out in about two seconds flat.

I love the stuff, but too much gives me a headache.

Tea first thing, couple of cups in the morning and a coffee about 4pm when I feel I am lagging.
