Never had a problem with TGI's however on the two occasions I went to FB the food ICE cold.

Love the baby back ribs cooked in Jack Daniels served with breaded king prawns and fries. (admittedly this was in Florida)

I quite like F&B.

I know the shame.

Not a big fan of TGI's though.

We often go to F&B's near our local cinema because there are no Michelin-starred places nearby, of course. The kitchen is open, you can see everything being cooked, not a microwave in sight.
Of course, but 3 stars is little low no? wink

The burger I had was so rubbery and of the whetherspoons (stone me now, i've eaten there too) variety that i assumed it was microwaved.

That's a real shame. For us, when we go to the cinema we know we can get a reasonably convenient meal at F&B's and know what to expect. The staff are really friendly too.

Think i'll try F&B just looked at website and seems a bit better suited for kids. Everyone on TGI's seems coated with Jack Daniels sauce!

Wow.

When I saw the title of this thread, I only clicked on it to amuse myself by seeing how many posts it took for the usual raft of PH snobs to declare both restaurants as being fit only for peasants.

It took just one post.

Amazing.

I refuse to be grouped into the "snob" category, I've dined in a Harvester!

How about Pizza Express?
This

Tends to be cheaper and more tasty as the food isnt microwaved.
Pizza Express is a rip-off. The pizzas have got tiny over the last 20 years and when including a couple of drinks/salad the pricing is disgraceful for what you end up getting.

My god man, how much do you eat?!

Cheaper was the operative word, certainly in comparison to the suggested alternatives.

FFS, they're both fine for a lunch once in a while. Since when was Pistonheads such a snob-fest?

TGIs = generic American themed, burgers 'n stuff. Great Jack Daniels sauce.
F&Bs = American take on Italian, some of the food tastes fresher than TGIs. I've always found F&Bs noisier than TGIs.

I'd say your kids would enjoy either. Free balloons for the kids and probably drawing stuff too - at either of these.

That's actually quite an interesting read....

...but the suggested alternatives were TGI and F&B not another pizza restaurant

for taking kids, TGI is ideal.

Erm - plenty of vouchers around, esp via the Pizza Express emailing list. You don't pay full price for Pizza Express do you?

Also - quite kid friendly. Quick service. And most kids eat Pizza. The quality isn't bad, though you are right that the portions seem smaller.

Surprised by the negative comments regarding frankie & bennys!

I don't work for F&B, but my job requires me to work on their sites. I can confirm none of their food is microwaved and is all freshly prepared there and then.

Whenever I'm in a F&B, they always seem packed especially on sunday mornings and weekday nights.

KFC is much much worse, trust me.

I'm not in the least, this is Pistonheads and it's fashionable to slag off anything that's generally popular. hehe

I like a decent burger sometimes just as much as more refined dining (and if you've been dragging kids around a shopping centre then it's better than a MacD's/KFC/BK).

I've not been to an F&B for about 4 years, after the quality dropping below their normally pretty low standards (although it's been so long, I might give them another crack). I found them to be fairly bland, and a little tardy with their service.

I have been to TGI's a couple of times in the last few months (for friends kid's birthdays) and am going again on Tuesday for another one.

The first one of those times the burger I had was sublime - well seasoned, juicy, cooked very well and the sip of one of the other parent's margarita's made me wish I'd left my car at home. The service also was much better than I've had in much higher end restaurants, and they got a very healthy tip for the pleasure.

The second was vile. My burger was dry, the restaurant was too loud and we waited too long to be served.

The 1st burger was so good though that I'm still looking forward to going again - the kids like all the different things to look at, and how they're spoken to directly by the waiting staff (and they of course love the chips/icecream/balloons whatever).
