they use peanut oil. also, whilst they are nothing compared to five guys. I find the ALDI and iceland branded skin on fries are very similar with their rough texture
Of course they do!

Might have a stab at it this weekend - though that’s not in the spirit of this thread ha!

If I'm paying £15 for a burger and chips then I expect something special.
They simply aren't.
Even our local burger joint run by ex-Michelin chefs is cheaper, albeit still overpriced, overrated and served in a fking brioche.

fk brioche.

I’ve only had one five guys and that was because I was away with work and our allowance still didn’t cover my full meal (not that it bothers me more a shock at the price). It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t £15+ good as you say. The milkshake I thought was very good though. I’d go back if on a work trip and bored of the other options but not if I’m picking up the tab.

The chips are good but wrapping them burgers in foil makes them sweat and cooking all the toppings on the same griddle means everything just tastes the same that you add to your burger

I must try a 5 Guys one day, but visually they look awful, surely they could make the presentation slightly better?

£3.29 for a McDonalds 1/4 with cheese, £8.25 for a 5 Guys equivalent I think?

I cannot see where they (5 Guys) get that price from...

It better be bloody good for more than double the price.

If you like McDonald's they are doing some deals this week, including a 99p QPC if you order through the app today.

This hit the spot.
Not much change from £30
That cost me $25 - about £18 - which wasn't too bad.

Everyone’s tastes are different - i think Wetherspoon’s beef burgers are rank, but again they fill a gap in the market.

Five Guys is more than double the quality of a QP in my opinion, though I don’t mind a QP either.

I find there is a lot of reverse snobbery about Five Guys, they’re really controversial!

Reverse snobbery would be valid if people that didn't like them didn't pay similar prices elsewhere.

i would say the word is overrated, but someone people expect more when paying more, some don't.

I had a now discontinued burger from Wetherspoons and it was tastier and cheaper than Five Guys, there is no agenda just simples stuff.

Like McDonalds, I think I need to be in the mood for 5 Guys. The customisation aspects are nice, means me and my wife can have totally different burgers. I don't rate their hot dogs, especially in takeaway form when they're universally a soggy mess by the time they arrive. I also think the foil-wrapping promotes sogginess in the burger buns too.

They're definitely better on-site than as takeaway.

No burger in Wetherspoons has ever tasted good!

They do but it’s the seasoning. Sorry MSG.

I love a five guys, I don’t mind they are slightly more expensive as I’ve never been disappointed.

I love a Macdonald’s. But it’d never get a takeaway or meal slot post lunch.

Well worth it, i tend to go to 5G once for every lets say 3 mcds visits over the course of a month or 2.

Their burgers are mourish but more so their fries are amazing, ask for a large and they throw a frankly ridiculous amount in. Cooked in peanut oil which gives them a very unique and tasty flavour.
