Apparantly has been in the planning for a while AFAIK. Looking forward to trying it.

Finished a bottle of Supernova SN2014 a couple of days ago. Was lovely, but compared to all of the other Supernovas it tasted less complex.

If anyone gets a chance to try the SN2015, go for it.

Seems to be the first signs of what does corona mean for whisky is basically business as usual! Or a jump in value in auction, which presumably will pull the distillery values up with it over time. Looks like a weaker pound and lots of extra money being printed which will end up in assets (including whisky) is going to push price up for drinkers in UK.
It is a strange time.

I started looking for a flat to buy in December and have been trying sell the majority of my collection (and my car) to get a deposit together. I have contacted some of the bigger sellers in the UK but have had either no response or 'thanks but no thanks'.

I'm going to be auctioning it soon but I'm looking for reccommendations. Currently looking at using either:

whisky.auction
whiskyauction.com (in Germany)
whiskyauctioneer

Has anyone had dealings with any of these companies with regard to selling?

PS. If anyone is looking for a bottle PM me. Maybe I have it wink

I can only comment on the one I have used for selling, which is whisky auctioneer, and I've had no problems with them at all. I used their courier collection service too, which worked well.

i had a couple of bottles from the committee release. The only whisky i have ever flipped. Chose the wrong auction site and the extortionate fees wiped out the profit. Wish I'd drunk them!!

I was assuming that there would be some bargains to be had at auction, but it looks like I was wrong. I did win a Glenfiddich 19 Red Wine Cask for £52.50 last month, which I thought was a good deal. No box, but it was for drinking anyway, so no issue.

think is that corona means they are not manufacturing but that only has a downstream impact, not really today. I think sales are probably doing better than usual as whisky is mostly a sitting at home drink anyway. I guess the only issues will be with supplies to shops if this carries on for more than a few weeks as there will be reduced bottling taking place, maybe? That might only serve to push the prices up, not down?

Good luck with the flat purchase! Only sold a bottle or two via whiskyauctioneer, none via the other two. Most have been through SWA due to the no commission on sales. Not had any problem with WA - and it sounds like they will likely continue with actions for the time being, but just not post the bottles until things open up again.

This week will be busy for tasting - today is peated "class", tomorrow GlenAllachie are doing a live tasting, Friday Billy Walker will be with the NE WAS, and Sat there is a lot of the distilleries and bottlers doing a mini festival. Will have to not drink for all of them!

Got this the other week - although not my pic as it should be at my brother's place for now. They had a batch of 9yo Miltonduff, then filled it into little firkin sherry casks, one for each of the Cadenheads shops. I got the Campbeltown one.

That's just bad luck. The 2015 along with the original 2009 SN are my top two Islays.

well it was my own choosing so not really bad luck, more like bad decision making. Anyway. I bought a bottle of Ardbeg Twenty-Something with the proceeds, which is still unopened!

SWA for me (personally).

You can sell a bottle that’s (example £10K) and only costs you £6 quid.

I’ve sold a fair few bottles with them now and it’s effortless. From memory - you’re in Germany? They do pick ups in London and Edinburgh.

Been after this for ages, and just by chance stumbled upon it online on Saturday. Absolutely delighted.

Has a bit of sentimental value for me so it'll be a keeper

Fantastic Justin - always lovely to get those bottles with the personal connections/ long hunt!

Same reason for me selling there. The problem now is that they are completely closed in Corvid-19 times, so hard to know when they will actually be able to sell the bottles.

A mate who's used them in the past was complaining they've stopped their free bottle storage which he used to use before collecting a few moths worth of auction wins. I'm not sure how this will effect sale prices.

Whisky hammer still allow this free for 3 months but the sale prices in their last auction were noticeably down compared to recent months. I'd certainly be nervous about putting anything through that's not likely to easily exceed the £150 minimum reserve value.

Thanks for the suggestions. Has given me a couple of more avenues to explore.

I opened a bottle of Parched (Batch 1) from the St Georges Distillery last night.

Needs to breath a bit but is very drinkable. Shame it only comes in 0.5l bottles

I need to use up some of my open bottles as I keep opening up ones to try then revert back to my usuals.

I've some that I want to experiment with, saw somewhere online that a chap bought a kit for sherry finishing. Consisted of long thin bits of oak that you soaked in sherry for a bit then put them into the bottle you wanted to flavour. Only problem is, my Google skills suck and I can't find anything similar.

Anyone know what I mean or am I rambling?

Finished off a Glengoyne 18 the other night, going to try the 21 next I think.

The Grand Whisky Auction are quite good too. I've used them for both buying and selling and Beau is great to deal with.
